While the skill of converting a penalty is often downplayed in football debates, it's an expertise that very few players have mastered to perfection.
The players that make this list, however, had plenty of opportunities to execute the perfect penalty throughout the course of a Premier League season.
We take a look at the five players who have scored the most penalties in a Premier League season.
Andrew Johnson's 2004/05 campaign was nothing short of remarkable, scoring 21 goals in a Crystal Palace team that recorded 33 points and finished 18th. He registered over half of the Eagles' goals that season, 11 of which were converted from 12 yards out.
Johnson fired home from the spot on the final day of the season, giving Crystal Palace a 2-1 lead away at Charlton Athletic. If Palace had have held on, they would have avoided the drop, but an 82nd minute goal from Jonathan Fortune meant Johnson's 11th penalty goal of the season was not enough to keep his side in the top flight.
If we can draw one conclusion from this list, it's that Crystal Palace must spend a fair amount of their training sessions practicing penalties, as former Eagles midfielder Luka Milivojevic joins the standings with 10 penalty goals in a Premier League season.
This time round, Palace were able to comfortably avoid relegation, recording a 12th placed finish in a season where Milivojevic received most of the plaudits for his composure from the spot.
Frank Lampard's 2009/10 campaign is arguably one of the greatest individual Premier League seasons we have ever seen, scoring 22 goals and assisting 14 times, all whilst playing in midfield.
Lampard scored 43 penalties in his Premier League career, 10 of which came in the 2009/10 campaign, a season in which he was the driving force behind Chelsea's league win, beating Manchester United to the title by a solitary point.
It's worth noting that the Premier League consisted of 42 games when Alan Shearer netted 10 penalties in the 1994/95 campaign, but this does not take away from his precision from the spot.
After coming short the season prior, Kenny Dalglish's Blackburn Rovers lifted the Premier League title in May 1995, spearheaded by Shearer and his inevitability in front of goal, especially from 12 yards.
Mohamed Salah is closing in on the record for the most penalties scored in a Premier League season, needing two more penalty goals from nine league games to match Andrew Johnson's tally of 11.
It's not just the record for the most penalties converted that the 'Egyptian King' is chasing, needing 10 goals to beat Erling Haaland's record for the most goals in a Premier League season (36) and just four assists to beat Thierry Henry's and Kevin De Bruyne's record for the most assists in a Premier League season (20).
