Two women’s soccer medal contenders meet in the second round of group stage fixtures on Sunday as the USA take on Germany at the impressive Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.

USA Women team news

USA boss Emma Hayes could be without Sophia Smith after she was forced off late on in the first half against Zambia. If Smith is unavailable Lydia Williams should come into the starting XI after taking her place in the win over the southern Africans.

Jaedyn Shaw missed the opener due to a leg injury and Sunday’s meeting with Germany may come too soon for the 19-year-old forward.

Germany Women team news

Germany coach Horst Hrubesch has no fresh injury concerns and is likely to stick with the same side that claimed an impressive 3-0 win over the Matildas.
