France v Spain: Prediction, Tips and Odds

The stage is set for the final of the men's football tournament at the Parc des Princes on Friday, when host nation France go up against European rivals Spain.

Both nations are looking for their second gold medal in the competition's history, with Les Bleus going all the way in 1984 and La Roja landing the top prize on home soil in 1992.

France v Spain betting tips and predictions

Spain to lift the trophy - 21/20

France topped Group A in dominant fashion, winning all three matches and keeping clean sheets in all of those, but they have found life tougher in their next two assignments.

Les Bleus overcame Argentina 1-0 in a fiery quarter-final encounter before they were forced to come from behind to defeat Egypt 3-1 after extra-time in the semi-finals.

Head coach Thierry Henry could have done without his side playing 30 more minutes and that extra workload may just give Spain the physical edge heading into the final.

After easing past Japan 3-0 in the quarters, La Roja produced their own comeback to defeat Morocco 2-1 last time out, though the difference is they managed to do that in normal time.

France also have to deal with the pressure and expectation to deliver gold on home soil and they may just end up short in front of the partisan crowd in Paris.

This contest could end up going all the way to penalties and, therefore, the safer play is to back Spain to lift the trophy.

Fermin Lopez to score any time - 3/1

Fermin Lopez has already tasted international success this summer, having been part of the Spain squad that won the European Championship, and he has taken that momentum into the games in Paris.

The 21-year-old Barcelona midfielder has been integral to La Roja's run to the final, scoring a brace in the quarter-final and notching once in the semi-final to take his overall tally to four.

Lopez also found the back of the net in the group stage and his extra quality can shine through in the final, with the 3/1 on him to score any time hard to ignore.

Over 10 corners - 5/4

France and Spain have enjoyed plenty of possession in the tournament and that has resulted in both nations racking up hefty corner counts, with Les Bleus awarded a leading 40 and Spain getting 26.

In total, there have been 58 corners (for and against) in France's five matches, averaging just over 11.5 per game, while there have been an average of 8.8 in Spain's assignments.

With both sides boasting plenty of attacking talent and free-flowing, entertaining football the order of the day, there looks to be a good chance that the corners will rack up and over 10 can be achieved.
