Olympic Football: France v Egypt: Prediction, Tips and Odds

France and Egypt battle it out for a place in the men's final when they clash at Stade de Lyon, Decines-Charpieu on Monday evening.

Les Bleus last won an Olympic medal back in 1964 in Los Angeles, taking gold after beating Brazil in the final, while the Pharaohs have never managed to finish on the podium.

France v Egypt

France v Egypt betting tips and predictions

France to win to nil - 11/10

France have won all four matches to reach the semi-final stage of the competition, beating United States, Guinea, New Zealand and Argentina all to nil.

Les Bleus' defence has yet to be breached and that record is made even more impressive by the fact they kept out a free-scoring Argentina side in the quarter-finals, edging that fiery contest 1-0.

France are on a 10-game unbeaten streak, a run that has seen them chalk up eight victories with clean sheets recorded in six of those fixtures.

It will be difficult to break down the host nation and Egypt, who had to play 120 minutes and go through a penalty shootout in their quarter-final win over Paraguay, could be in for a tough evening.

The Pharaohs failed to score in their opening group match, a 0-0 draw against the Dominican Republic, and they are the lowest scorers left in the tournament.

France's rock-solid defence should see them record a fifth shutout in a row and book their place in the gold medal match.

Under 2.5 goals - 43/40

With France looking supreme at the back, it's unlikely there will be a glut of goals in this last-four encounter and under 2.5 goals looks to be the play here.

This bet has landed in three of Egypt's four matches, while it has been successful in exactly half of France's fixtures.

Egypt may not be the most fluent side in the attacking third, netting just four times in total, but they have looked strong at the back with two clean sheets kept. Had it not been for a stoppage-time goal in the 2-1 win over Spain, that would have been three shutouts.

With so much on the line, neither side will be looking to make any silly mistakes and that could result in a match where chances are few and far between.

Omar Fayed to be booked - 3/1

France have a number of attacking options at their disposal - the quick-footed, agile Michael Olise being one of them - and the Egypt defence will likely have to put in a number of tackles.

This should increase the chances of the cards being dished out and one player that could go into the book for the Pharaohs is Omar Fayed, who was cautioned seven times from 18 league appearances for Novi Pazar in the 2023/24 season.

Fayed was booked in the opening match against the Dominican Republic and he could end up on the wrong side of the referee in Monday's contest.
