Nottingham Forest v Ipswich Town: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Nottingham Forest will be looking to get back to winning ways when they welcome Ipswich Town to the City Ground for Premier League action on Saturday.

After a fantastic start to the season that had the Tricky Trees in the top four at one point, defeats to Newcastle United and Arsenal have checked their progress and seen the club slip down to seventh in the standings.

Ipswich remain in the relegation zone, but they have made progress in recent weeks and head into this contest looking to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.

Nottingham Forest v Ipswich Town betting tips and predictions

Ipswich or draw double chance - 23/20

Having finished just one place above the drop zone last season, Forest have made huge improvements this term and have collected 19 points from 12 matches, more than half of the 32 they managed in total in 2023/24.

The Tricky Trees have been solid at the back with their tally of 13 goals conceded the joint third-best record in the division, with Liverpool (8) and Arsenal (12) the only sides better than them.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo's side have struggled over their last two matches, conceding three in a 3-1 home loss to Newcastle before then shipping the same number in a 3-0 defeat at Arsenal.

Form at the City Ground has been mixed for Forest, who have won three, drawn two and lost two of their seven home fixtures in all competitions, and they could be in for a difficult afternoon against a resurgent Ipswich.

November has been a good month for the Tractor Boys, who drew 1-1 at home to Leicester City before then securing their first league win of the campaign with a 2-1 success at Tottenham Hotspur.

Kieran McKenna's side came from behind to draw 1-1 against Manchester United at Portman Road last time out, extending their unbeaten run to three matches and leaving them in the bottom three on goal difference alone.

Ipswich have managed to secure draws at both Brighton and Southampton and, given they head to the City Ground with increased confidence, they look capable of coming away with a positive result.

Chris Wood to score a header - 6/1

Ipswich will have the difficult job of trying to stop Forest ace Chris Wood from finding the back of the net, something he has done eight times in the league this season.

The 32-year-old impressed for New Zealand during the recent international break, bagging five goals in two matches, and those exertions likely played a big part in Nuno dropping the striker to the bench for the trip to Arsenal last time out.

Wood should be reinstalled into the starting XI for this contest and with him fit and raring to go, he could be a real handful for an Ipswich defence that has conceded 23 top-flight goals.

One area that the former Newcastle striker excels in is in the air, with three of his goals in the league coming with his head, including the most recent of those in the home win over West Ham at the start of November.

Forest like to get crosses into the box and it would be no surprise to see Wood notch with a header for the fourth time this term.

Dara O'Shea to have over 0.5 shots - 1/1

Ipswich have plenty of attacking talent in their ranks, but one player that has been managed to rack up the attempts is defender Dara O'Shea, who is averaging one shot per game from his nine league games.

Only three Ipswich players have had more attempts and O'Shea will be relishing the chance to have a pop against a Forest defence that have struggled over the last two games.

The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international offers a threat from set-pieces and he can add to his shots count with an effort at the City Ground.
