Norwich City v Bolton Wanderers Prediction: 5/2 Brooks can help down Trotters

Norwich City exited the EFL Cup with a 5-0 loss away to Manchester City, but they have shown more positive signs in the Championship over recent weeks and will be aiming to climb into the top half by beating Bolton at Carrow Road on Sunday.

Results have been up and down for the Canaries, who have won three and lost four of seven Championship fixtures.

But Philippe Clement’s side have taken maximum points from their last two home games - winning 4-1 against Burnley and 2-1 against Birmingham - and they were far from disgraced in last Saturday’s 4-3 loss at Middlesbrough.

The Canaries went toe-to-toe with the losing play-off finalists before succumbing to Ashley Phillips’s injury-time goal.

While Norwich were left feeling a little hard done by, Bolton were delighted to boost their survival chances with a 1-0 victory at home to Cardiff.

Thierry Gale popped up with a 90th-minute winner for the Trotters, who claimed only their second win of the season to move three points clear of the relegation zone.

Norwich City v Bolton Wanderers

Norwich City v Bolton Wanderers Prediction

Best Bet: Norwich -1 on handicap @ 5/4

Norwich are just two points above Bolton in the Championship table, but there is a gap in class between the teams and it could be evident at the weekend with the Canaries likely to ease to a wide margin success.

The schedule has been demanding for the Canaries, who have faced two of last season’s playoff participants (Millwall and Middlesbrough) plus recently relegated Burnley.

But Philippe Clement’s side have scored 13 league goals and their offensive prowess is likely to improve now that striker Jovon Makama is edging closer to full fitness.

Makama was a scoring substitute in last Saturday’s 4-3 loss at Middlesbrough, although he faces a battle to dislodge Mohamed Toure, who has netted 13 goals in 17 Championship appearances.

Norwich’s firepower makes them a tough proposition and could be key to sweeping aside Bolton, who are still adjusting to the higher level.

Bolton escaped with a 1-0 victory at home to Cardiff last Saturday despite losing the shot count 17 to seven.

But they have taken just a point on their Championship travels and could be nullified in Norfolk.

Alternative Bet: Andre Brooks anytime assist @ 5/2

Norwich’s attacking style seems to be suiting winger Andre Brooks, who was recruited in a summer transfer from Sheffield United.

Brooks is one of just three Norwich outfield players to have started all seven league matches this season.

The 23-year-old has produced one assist while laying on seven chances and his creative quality could be key to beating Bolton.

Norwich fans are understandably excited by the potential of Australian striker Mohamed Toure, who has excelled in his first eight months with the club.

Toure was acquired from Danish club Randers at the end of the winter transfer window and hit the ground running by scoring nine goals in the second half of last season.

And, after featuring in Australia’s World Cup squad, Toure has continued to impress, scoring four times in six appearances this term.

The pacy 22-year-old has the potential to be among the division’s top scorers and he can play a key role in helping the Canaries to a third straight home win.

Bolton face a tough challenge against a free-flowing Norwich side and may have to resort to some tactical fouling.

Combative midfielder Josh Sheehan was carded 10 times in League One last season and he may struggle to escape punishment at Carrow Road.
