Newcastle United v Liverpool: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Having reeled off their seventh straight win when they beat Manchester City 2-0 on Sunday, Liverpool look unstoppable as they head to Tyneside to take on Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The Reds have established a dominant nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table and have swatted aside the likes of Brighton, Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Man City since the start of November.

Newcastle can be a tough nut to crack at St James' Park, but they may struggle to curtail the rampant Merseysiders on Wednesday.

Newcastle United v Liverpool betting tips and predictions

Liverpool to win - 3/4

It would be a bold move to oppose Liverpool at the moment, with the Reds having established a nine-point advantage at the Premier League summit.

The gap between them and defending champions Man City was stretched to 11 points on Sunday, when the Reds ran out 2-0 winners at Anfield.

It was a dominant display from Arne Slot's men, who could have scored more, but goals from Cody Gakpo and the red-hot Mo Salah sealed the victory.

And the bad news for Liverpool's next opponents Newcastle is that the Merseysiders have been unrelenting on their travels.

They have won eight of their nine away games this season, drawing 2-2 with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the other, and that has included wins away to Manchester United, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and Brighton.

They were 3-2 winners in their last away contest against relegation-threatened Southampton, digging deep for a win when they were not even at their best.

And they should be up for the task of beating Newcastle, who have blown hot and cold this season.

The Magpies followed their 2-0 defeat to West Ham with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in their last two Premier League games, although they have beaten Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham this term.

Liverpool, however, are the team to beat in the Premier League and, at 3/4, they are a value punt on Tyneside.

Under 2.5 goals - 11/8

A solid defence will be key to any success Newcastle have this season and they can at least limit the damage against Liverpool with a low-scoring match expected at St James' Park.

The Magpies' Premier League fixtures have produced an average of just 2.15 goals per game and, with star forward Alexander Isak missing this contest, they could take a conservative and cautious approach.

For all their star quality in the attacking third, the Reds have not been blowing teams away recently, winning three of their last four matches by a 2-0 margin, and under 2.5 goals could be a decent bet.

Mohamed Salah to score at anytime - 5/4

It is an obvious selection, but at 5/4 Mo Salah is still value to find the net.

Despite his disputes with the club off the pitch, the Egyptian ace is excelling on it with his penalty strike against the Citizens taking him to 11 goals in this season's Premier League, while he has also laid on seven assists.

He has also had more league shots than any other Liverpool player with 43 - Luis Diaz is next on the list with just 21 - and he remains his team's star man.

Salah scored a brace when these sides met in January this year and he can get on the scoresheet again on Tyneside.
