Napoli have turned a corner since mid-December and Antonio Conte’s side will be determined to keep up their winning run when they host Hellas Verona on Sunday night.
Since a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Lazio on 14th December, Napoli have won all of their four Serie A games.
Winning away at Udinese, Genoa and Fiorentina, while also earning a home victory against Venezia, Conte’s side have found form at an important stage of the season.
Ready to kick on in the second half of the campaign, Napoli will be looking for revenge when they welcome Verona to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this weekend.
Napoli to win to nil - 5/6
Verona really did a number on Napoli when these sides met earlier in the season, as the Gialloblu earned a 3-0 victory at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.
The match was goalless at the break, but Daikon Livramento broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, before a brace from Daniel Mosquera secured all three points for the hosts.
Napoli have responded well since that defeat at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi in August and they have not lost on the road in any of their nine Serie A away games since.
Verona, meanwhile, have been in an inconsistent run of form that has left them down in 17th place in the Serie A standings going into Sunday’s game.
Failing to score in two of their last three matches, including a goalless draw at home to Udinese last time out, a lack of goals has been hurting Paolo Zanetti’s side as they flirt with the relegation zone.
Napoli look to be good value to make it five wins on the spin in Serie A, while also keeping the Gialloblu off the scoresheet.
Half Time/Full Time - Draw/Napoli - 13/5
As in their meeting earlier this season, a stalemate at the half-time whistle might well be on the cards in this one.
Verona will be well organised and will aim to prevent Napoli’s star players in the final third having an early impact on the game.
Napoli have tended to make conservative starts on home soil in recent weeks, with all of their last three home wins coming by a scoreline of 1-0, and all the goals in those games coming in the second half.
That trend can continue on Sunday and offers good value at 13/5.
Romelu Lukaku first goalscorer - 3/1
A player who seems to be enjoying his new home in Napoli, Romelu Lukaku, catches the eye at 3/1 when it comes to scoring what could be the decisive goal in this contest.
Lukaku, who scored against Verona last season while playing for Roma, has scored seven goals in his 17 Serie A appearances this term and appears to be working well under new boss Conte.
Scoring from the penalty spot last time out in a 3-0 win at Fiorentina, Lukaku’s ability from the spot is another reason to consider him to open the scoring in this contest at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
