Most expensive player sales from PSV Eindhoven

A club renowned for developing young players, we examine the most expensive player sales from PSV Eindhoven of all time.

Eredivisie

• Hirving Lozano

PSV -> Napoli (€45.00m)

PSV Eindhoven's record transfer export is flying Mexican winger Hirving Lozano, who transferred to Serie A outfit Napoli for €45m in August 2019.

Although Lozano's form was up and down during his time at Napoli, he was part of the club's historic Scudetto-winning side under Luciano Spalletti in 2022/23.

• Cody Gakpo

PSV -> Liverpool (€42.00m)

Cody Gakpo is PSV's second biggest transfer export ever, making the move to Premier League giants Liverpool for €42m in January 2023.

Although Gakpo's first season at Anfield was not overly convincing, the Dutchman appears to have taken his game to a new level under the auspices of compatriot Arne Slot during the 2024/25 campaign.

• Ibrahim Sangare

PSV -> Nottingham Forest (€35.00m)

PSV's third highest ever sale and Nottingham Forest's second most expensive signing of all time, Ivorian defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangare swapped the Eredivisie for the Premier League in September 2023.

A central midfielder with a lovely blend of physical and technical attributes, Sangare has missed out on the majority of Forest's standout 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a significant hamstring injury.

• Noni Madueke

PSV -> Chelsea (€35.00m)

Born in Barnet, Greater London, electric winger Noni Madueke spent time in Crystal Palace and Tottenham's academies before moving abroad to PSV Eindhoven in 2018.

Madueke's performances in the Eredivisie for PSV quickly drew admiring glances from Premier League clubs back in his homeland, with Chelsea parting with €35m to snap up the winger in January 2023.

• Memphis Depay

PSV -> Manchester United (€34.00m)

Mercurial forward Memphis Depay was regarded as one of the most promising young players in Europe when Manchester United acquired him from PSV for €34m in the summer of 2015.

Although Depay largely flattered to deceive at Old Trafford, the Dutchman has gone on to enjoy a successful career - shining bright at Lyon and also boasting an impressive goal record for the Netherlands.

• Steven Bergwijn

PSV -> Tottenham (€30.00m)

Another Dutch winger to have moved from the Eredivisie to the Premier League, Tottenham spent €30m to sign Steven Bergwijn from PSV in January 2020.

Although representing a useful squad player during his time at Spurs, it was not long before Bergwijn would return to his homeland after agreeing a switch to Ajax in July 2022.

• Donyell Malen

PSV -> Borussia Dortmund (€30.00m)

An Eredivisie winner with PSV in 2017/18, fleet-footed forwarded Donyell Malen landed a €30m move to Borussia Dortmund in July 2021.

Malen was a member of the Dortmund squad which reached the 2024 UEFA Champions League final, coming on as an 80th-minute substitute in the final at Wembley as BVB were downed 2-0 by Real Madrid.

• Ruud van Nistelrooy

PSV -> Manchester United (€28.50m)

Arguably one of PSV's best ever players, Ruud van Nistelrooy made the move to Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United for €28.5m in the summer of 2001.

The Dutchman proved a revelation at Old Trafford, scoring a sensational 95 goals in 150 appearances across five years before signing for Real Madrid in 2006.

• Georginio Wijnaldum

PSV -> Newcastle United (€20.00m)

After captaining PSV to their first Eredivisie title in seven years in 2015, all-action midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum moved on to the Premier League with Newcastle United for a €20m fee.

Although Wijnaldum scored an impressive 11 Premier League goals from midfield, his debut season in England ended in disaster as the Magpies were relegated to the Championship.

The Dutchman would not ply his trade in England's second tier, however, transferring to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool where he won four major honours across five years.

• Arjen Robben

PSV -> Chelsea (€18.00m)

Such is the extent of the inflation of transfer fees in football, the €18m Chelsea spent to sign Arjen Robben from PSV in 2004 seems relatively modest now.

One of the most talented wingers of his generation, Robben won two Premier League titles with Chelsea before going on to achieve further success at European heavyweights Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
