Millwall v Sheffield United: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Chris Willder is on track to lead Sheffield United to the Premier League for a second time and his high-flying side are looking to add three more points to their tally when they visit Millwall on Wednesday.

Wilder is working his magic again in his second spell as boss of his boyhood club but things are not going so smoothly at Millwall and manager Neil Harris announced on Tuesday that he will be stepping down from his role after Saturday's visit to Middlesbrough.

The Blades were top of the table heading into the midweek fixtures having lost only two of their 19 second-tier games, while the Lions are in a solid mid-table position but have not won any of their last four games.

Sheffield United - 29/20

Everything is going to plan for Sheffield United as they bid to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt and they were on top of the table after the weekend matches with 39 points from their first 19 games.

Wilder's side are unbeaten in their last eight matches, winning six of them, but they are not quite as strong on their travels as they are at Bramall Lane, where they have won eight and drawn one of their nine league games.

On the road, the Blades have won four, drawn four and lost two matches, and three of those wins were in some of their shorter trips to Preston, Hull and Blackburn, with a 2-1 win at Bristol City being their only long-distance success in the league so far.

Even so, it may not take a top-notch performance to beat a goal-shy Millwall side who are dealing with the news of their manager's imminent departure.

The Lions have scored just 20 goals in 18 games and they have not netted more than once in any of their last 11 matches.

With the Blades locked in a fierce fight against Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland for the two automatic promotion places, they should not be in the mood to make any allowances for Millwall's latest upheaval and are capable of grinding out a win on the road.

Sheffield United to win 1-0 - 11/2

Like United, Millwall don't concede many goals and their visitors have scored just eight in 10 league games at the Den this season.

They have still lost three times in front of their own fans, with Watford and Luton winning in south London before Coventry's 1-0 success on Saturday.

The Lions did the Blades a favour by beating their rivals Burnley and Leeds, both 1-0, at home last month, but their strikers are really struggling for goals and they have been relying on defenders to help out with Japhet Tanganga and Jake Cooper both contributing in recent matches.

The Blades have an injury concern over top scorer Tyrese Campbell, who aggravated a back issue after scoring at West Brom on Sunday, and given that potential reduction in their firepower, 1-0 looks the best correct-score option.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi first goalscorer - 15/2

With Campbell struggling to be fit and Kieffer Moore still out, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi could be the player who supplies the crucial goal for Sheffield United at the Den.

The loanee from Crystal Palace has relished his role just behind the striker in Wilder's side and earned an England Under-21 call-up for his impressive performances.

The winger scored both goals in the 2-0 home win over Luton and has since struck in the 2-2 draw at Coventry and the 3-0 home victory over Oxford.

The Blades boss is confident the eyecatching youngster will stay for the season despite rumours that the Eagles may want to recall him, but he should continue to have a key role to play in United's promotion push while he is there.
