Hull City are battling to try and retain their Championship status and face a testing trip to the capital to take on Millwall on Saturday.
Eyebrows were raised when Hull parted ways with Liam Rosenior last summer as many believed he overachieved at the MKM in his first season, and those eyebrow-raisers have been proven right through the early part of the campaign.
The Tigers are second-bottom in the Championship with just 23 points to their name and are already on to their second manager of the season, with Ruben Selles replacing Rosenior's successor, Tim Walter, in December.
They are in desperate need of points, but luckily a trip to the capital to take on an inconsistent Millwall, who have also undergone a managerial change - with Alex Neil replacing Neil Harris in late December - could provide them with a decent chance to gain one.
Draw - 11/5
Elation became frustration in Millwall’s last Championship game as Ryan Wintle’s 83rd-minute goal would-have-been the winner, however was quickly cancelled out by a strike from Sheffield Wednesday’s Gabriel Otegbayo just two minutes later.
That 2-2 draw at Hillsborough extended the Lions' winless league run to four games, with them winning none of their two Championship matches under their new boss Neil, who did oversee a 3-0 FA Cup win over fifth-tier Dagenham & Redbridge on Monday.
During recent poor runs, home advantage has always been something the Lions have had in their corner, with the Den so often a feared visit for opposing sides.
However, that does not seem to be the case at current, with Millwall losing three of their last four home games, suggesting City have a grand opportunity to strike on Saturday.
The Tigers will be reeling after a penalty-shootout defeat to Doncaster Rovers in their own FA Cup third-round tie, but they did rotate for that clash and they have begun to show positive signs under Selles in the Championship.
Hull have beaten Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers under the Spaniard, who masterminded a 3-3 draw with the leaders Leeds United in their last league assignment.
They are also yet to lose by more than a single goal since Selles took over, suggesting they should be competitive in the capital.
The loan signing of exciting young forward Joe Gelhardt from Leeds gives Hull an extra attacking option and their squad, on paper, is better than the Lions'.
That hints that they should have enough to earn an important point at the Den, extending their unbeaten run against Millwall to six in the process.
Under 2.5 goals - 8/15
Unsurprisingly, given their style under Harris, Millwall are the joint-lowest scorers in the Championship, netting just 24 times in the second tier this term.
With that in mind, it is also unsurprising to see that just two of their last 18 Championship games have featured three or more goals, making under 2.5 a standout selection for Saturday’s clash, with Hull prone to being goal-shy as well.
The Tigers have scored just four goals across their last eight league away games, while only four of their last 12 matches in all competitions have seen the ball hit the net on three or more occasions.
The price for under 2.5 goals is not huge, but that shows that it is a likely outcome and could be used to boost a bet builder for the clash - combining our three selections would create an appealing 10/1 betslip.
Matt Crooks to be booked - 2/1
Most Championship defenders would have been happy to see the back of Matt Crooks when he left Middlesbrough for Real Salt Lake, given the powerful midfielder-cum-striker's tendency to get embroiled in tussles.
But Crooks is back on British shores with Hull and he could pick up right where he left off, with his physicality clearly still a big feature of his game, as shown by his eight yellow cards in 31 games for Real.
Crooks picked up 16, eight and five yellows in his last three seasons with Boro and Selles may look to his new signing to disrupt a usually resolute and physical home defence, potentially resulting in a maiden Hull booking for the Leeds native.
