Millwall v Cardiff City: Tips, Predictions and Odds

Cardiff City and Millwall have both struggled this season and the bottom-half pair may well cancel each other out when they meet in this Championship clash on Tuesday.

The Bluebirds have improved recently and secured a 3-0 win over rivals Swansea at the weekend but their away record this season leaves plenty to be desired.

Millwall are the lowest scorers in the division however and need to find a spark sooner rather than later as they start to slide toward the relegation zone.

Millwall v Cardiff City betting tips and predictions

Draw - 2/1

Millwall parted company with club legend Neil Harris part of the way through their current run of one win from their last 12 league games but new manager Alex Neil has failed to get more out of the Lions squad since his arrival.

They have lost star youngster Romain Esse to Crystal Palace and are now just four points clear of the relegation zone after their 1-0 road loss to fellow strugglers Hull at the weekend.

While they have been much better at the Den than they have been on their travels, it is hard to fancy a team in the form that they are at such a short price.

It is not hard to see where the hosts’ issues lie, they have scored four times in their last nine games in the league.

Scrappy, low-scoring games have become the norm for this team. Since a 3-1 win over Preston in late September, 17 of Millwall’s last 19 league matches have gone under 2.5 goals.

They face a Cardiff team who are on the up, going unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions.

The Bluebirds have beaten Sheffield United, Watford and rivals Swansea in that time and picked up draws against Coventry, Middlesbrough and the Hornets again.

They remain just a point clear of the drop zone however after a dismal start to the campaign and they have just one win from 13 away games.

Omer Riza’s men have drawn seven of those and face a Millwall side who are no strangers to a stalemate either, sharing the spoils in nine of their 27 league games.

Side with another draw in what may well be another cagey affair at the Den.

Aaron Connolly to score at anytime - 9/2

Millwall have attempted to resolve their goalscoring issues by signing Sunderland striker Aaron Connolly and he made his debut for the Lions in their 1-0 defeat to Hull at the weekend, coming off the bench for the last 30 minutes.

Given their lack of successful striking options, he may well start up top in this game and looks a big price to get his first goal for the club.

The Irishman has had some tough years off the pitch but was a highly touted prospect at Brighton not that long ago and netted eight goals in 13 starts on loan at Hull last term.

He found the net for Sunderland at the Den in November and will be hoping to repeat the trick for his new side here.

Perry Ng to be shown a card - 3/1

Perry Ng has been asked to play in a number of positions for Cardiff this season but one constant has been his struggles with discipline.

The 28-year-old has already been booked seven times in 20 league games and looks a big contender to pick up another in this clash.
