The weekend's derby action across Europe continues on Sunday, with Ligue 1's headline offering being the first Le Classique of the season, as Marseille host Paris Saint-Germain.
After a flying start, Marseille lost momentum but bounced back with last Sunday's 5-0 win at an admittedly poor Montpellier side. Les Phoceens have a squad formed of stars with a point to prove, several of whom have a history with PSG, either as players or having been overlooked by Parisiens in the past.
Some of them, midfielder Adrien Rabiot included, also pledged never to represent Marseille due to the two clubs' rivalry. However, all will be forgiven by the Stade Velodrome crowd if Roberto De Zerbi's side can claim a victory on Sunday.
Luis Enrique's visitors sit three points ahead of their rivals heading into Le Classique and beat Strasbourg 4-2 in their last domestic outing.
They again looked uncertain when in midweek European action, drawing 1-1 at home against PSV Eindhoven and still seem to be transitioning following Kylian Mbappe's summer departure.
A defeat in Provence would add to the uncertainty and all things considered, Sunday's 108th Le Classique could be magnifique.
Over 3.5 goals - 13/10
Goals look guaranteed at the Velodrome. Both teams have scored in seven of PSG's eight Ligue 1 matches in 2024/25 and the same has been the case in five of Marseille's matches. However, with that outcome only priced at 1/2, it is worth going for more and over 3.5 looks to be the option.
It landed in both sides' last Ligue 1 matches - Marseille winning 5-0 at Montpellier and PSG beating Strasbourg 4-2 - and the numbers suggest Sunday's match could be just as exciting.
These two teams are the highest scorers in Ligue 1, with Marseille netting 21 times and finding the net on PSG 25 occasions, but both are conceding at an average of a goal a game.
Enrique has spoken in the build-up of the need for his team to control their emotions, but with the Velodrome crowd sure to be on their backs, it might be difficult for the visitors to focus, leading to potential errors.
It might be the same for Marseille, with several of their players known for being volatile and the atmosphere may bring the best and worst out of them, with ongoings in the stands leading to emotions boiling over and mistakes occurring.
Both teams to score in the first half is a handy 5/2, but a safer suggestion is over 3.5 goals at 13/10.
Elye Wahi anytime goalscorer - 10/3
Elye Wahi is one of the Marseille players whose previous disparaging comments about the club have come back to haunt him.
He has also been the subject of recent criticism regarding his ability to handle the pressure of playing for arguably France's most passionately supported club.
Born in Courcouronnes in the southern suburbs of Paris, he never got to play for his hometown club but encouraging spells at Montpellier and Lens earned him his switch to Marseille earlier this year.
The 21-year-old scored on his debut but then failed to net in six games before breaking his duck in last weekend's victory at Montpellier.
De Zerbi has stuck by Wahi, with L'Equipe reporting that the coach has "unwavering confidence" in the striker.
Wahi striker can repay his faith with a goal against a PSG defence that hasn't kept a clean sheet in the league since August.
Ousmane Dembele to score or assist - 1/1
Another mercurial forward, Ousmane Dembele, has been sparkling at times this season, embracing his new status as PSG's key attacker following Mbappe's exit.
The winger remains a loose cannon - being dropped for the Champions League game at Arsenal following a row with Enrique - but his talent is evident.
Dembele seems more confident this season, borne out by his numbers, scoring four times in the league and providing three assists.
The 27-year-old is still to score or assist in October, but he regularly displays a greater impetus in the big games and is worth backing to provide a goal contribution.
