After what has been a difficult spell for the club, Lyon begin life with Paulo Fonseca at the helm on Sunday night, as they prepare to face Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.
Without a win in any of their last six games in all competitions, it’s been a tough run of results for Lyon, one that ended Pierre Sage’s time at the club.
Turning to former Roma, Lille and AC Milan boss Fonseca, Lyon are hoping the experienced coach can bring about a much-needed change in fortunes for the remainder of the campaign.
However, against a Marseille side who sit in second place and who have been best of the rest behind frontrunners Paris Saint-Germain, it’s hard to see Fonseca being able to bring about a winning start after only being confirmed as Lyon boss on the final day of January.
Marseille to win - 21/20
Marseille have hardly been in top gear in recent weeks but there is enough quality in this side to suggest they can make the most of home advantage at the Stade Velodrome and add to Lyon’s woes on Sunday night.
Being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Strasbourg before a 2-0 defeat at Nice in their last two Ligue 1 games, Marseille saw their already slender hopes of a shock league title at the expense of PSG all but disappear in January.
However, there is still a battle to be had to secure that second spot in the Ligue 1 standings and Marseille have an opportunity to pull clear of Monaco, Lille and Nice with three points on Sunday.
Les Olympiens have already beaten Lyon this season on the road back in September, winning 3-2 even with Leonardo Balerdi sent off in just the fifth minute of the game for the visitors.
With a full complement of players, and having won their last two home games against Lyon, Marseille are good value for the three points on their own patch.
Neal Maupay anytime goalscorer - 5/2
Playing the central attacking role at Marseille, loan striker Neal Maupay appears to be enjoying his time back across the Channel in his homeland.
The Frenchman could be set for a permanent move to the Stade Velodrome this summer from parent club Everton and he will be eager to prove he is worth keeping.
Scoring three Ligue 1 goals already this season, as well as providing four assists in the competition, Maupay has been easing his way back into the French top-flight after a difficult spell at Goodison Park.
A nuisance for defenders and a clinical finisher when he gets his rhythm, the 5/2 on offer for Maupay to score any time in this game certainly catches the eye.
Luis Henrique to score or assist - 21/20
Luis Henrique has been a key figure for Roberto De Zerbi’s side this season, with the Brazilian having scored six goals in Ligue 1 already this term.
It’s not just been Henrique’s goals that have earned him plaudits, as the 23-year-old has also managed to provide four assists this season.
Scoring a big goal in Marseille’s important 2-1 win over their rivals in the top-two battle Monaco last month, look to the former Botafogo star to add another goal to his collection or provide an assist in Sunday’s showdown in the south of France.
Marseille - 21/20
Draw - 27/10
Lyon - 23/10
