Manchester United Women v Brighton Women: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Manchester United Women suffered a midweek reverse to Manchester City in the League Cup and will hope to respond with a WSL victory at home to Brighton on Sunday.

The Seagulls were beaten 4-0 by Arsenal in midweek and have struggled to lay a glove on the top teams this season and have taken just one point from the last nine available in the WSL.

Manchester United Women v Brighton Women betting tips and predictions

Manchester United Women to win and over 2.5 goals - 4/5

United have lost just once in the Women’s Super League this season and will be hoping to pick up their eighth win of the campaign when they host Brighton Women in this Sunday night clash.

The Reds beat rivals Manchester City 4-2 last weekend in the league, before falling to defeat to the same opponents in midweek.

However, before that loss they had won five games in a row and should be able to regain the winning thread against Brighton.

The visitors have struggled away from home this season, losing four of their five road trips, conceding 12 and scoring just four in the process.

They managed to hold these opponents to a 1-1 draw at home earlier in the season, but look unlikely to repeat the trick given the hosts’ improved recent form.

United are looking to keep up the pressure on the WSL top two with a victory in this clash and should be able to do so.

The hosts have conceded just five times in 11 games, in sharp contrast with Brighton’s tally of 18 conceded.

That defensive frailty, particularly away from home could be the difference between these two teams and the hosts are fancied to win a high-scoring affair.

Five of the Reds’ last six games have gone over 2.5 goals and a repeat of that is fancied in a victory for Marc Skinner's side.

Elisabeth Terland to score at anytime - 11/10

United striker Elisabeth Terland will be celebrating a landmark appearance in this game, which is her 50th WSL game.

Only three non-English players - Bunny Shaw, Vivianne Miedema, and Sam Kerr - have scored more goals than Terland in their first 50 games in the competition, showing the high-class company that she is keeping with her goalscoring exploits.

The Norwegian has been crucial to the home team’s success this season, netting four goals and registering three assists from 10 WSL appearances.

She is fancied to celebrate her landmark outing with a goal against a Brighton side who have conceded 11 goals in their last three matches.

Poppy Pattinson to be shown a card - 12/5

Poppy Pattinson has played in a number of positions for Brighton this season, as varied as centre-half, left-back and central midfield.

One thing that has been a common theme throughout wherever she has played has been her tendency to fall foul of the referee.

She has four yellow cards and a red from 10 appearances in the WSL this term and looks a solid selection to be shown another card in this clash.
