Manchester United and Liverpool renew one of the fiercest rivalries in world football on Sunday as the two giants clash at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Liverpool have made a perfect start to the season under new boss Arne Slot with two wins in as many games, while United slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Brighton last time out after opening the campaign with a home win over Fulham.

Mohamed Salah to score anytime - 5/4

The standout bet for the standout game of the weekend looks to be an anytime effort from Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian forward has a fantastic scoring record against United with 11 goals and four assists in 13 Premier League appearances.

Salah scored a hat-trick at Old Trafford in 2021 and has found the net in each of his last four league games at United’s home ground. 

The 32-year-old has scored in both of his appearances this season and should be on penalty duties for Liverpool, so the odds-against price on an anytime goal for Salah looks a strong play in this huge fixture on Sunday. 

Liverpool to win and both teams to score - 15/8

Liverpool have a new manager in place, but they have seemed to be the more settled side in these early stages of the campaign while United look like a team in transition.

There have been more comings and goings in terms of playing personnel at Old Trafford and the hosts also have a few injury issues to contend with.

Arne Slot is slowly implementing his own style on the Liverpool team and they are perhaps a little more organised in defence, but less expressive in attack. However, there hasn’t been a huge departure in style from predecessor Jurgen Klopp just yet and that has allowed the Anfield outfit to make a bright start to the season.

Liverpool have largely been composed and have claimed back-to-back 2-0 wins over promoted Ipswich and Brentford. United looked good for large periods against Fulham but needed a late goal to claim the points and at Brighton they were edged out in a close game.

All three meetings between these sides finished level after 90 minutes last season and another close game could be on the cards, but Liverpool may just have the poise and composure to grind out a win, although keeping a clean sheet may be beyond them.

Slot’s side are yet to concede this season but their defence could be breached in victory at Old Trafford on Sunday. United have scored in all three of their games, including the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City, and they’ve scored in 11 of their last 12 competitive home games.

Amad Diallo to be booked - 10/3 

There were 21 cards dished out in total across the three meetings between these two sides last season so there are a few potential candidates for a booking in Sunday’s game.

Manchester United’s Amad Diallo is one option and he represents good value at the prices.

Diallo was booked in the FA Cup last-eight meeting between these sides last season, he then scored a late winner in extra time but was dismissed after picking up another yellow late on.

The Ivorian was shown a yellow card against Brighton last time out and as a fairly big-price option he could well find himself in the referee’s notebook this weekend.
