Nottingham Forest v Liverpool: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Nottingham Forest have won their last six Premier League matches and they host title favourites Liverpool in a fascinating fixture on Tuesday.

Nottingham Forest v Liverpool betting tips and predictions

Nottingham Forest or draw double chance - 6/5

At the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season, only the three promoted clubs and Everton were above Nottingham Forest in the relegation market.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo has worked wonders with the Tricky Trees and their first home league fixture of 2025 is a top-of-the-table clash with leaders Liverpool.

The visitors are 13/20 to win at the City Ground but those odds look too short given Forest's magnificent form and defensive excellence.

Nuno's men beat Luton 2-0 in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, stretching their winning run to seven matches in all competitions.

Since the start of October, Forest's only league defeats have come at home to Newcastle and away at Arsenal and Manchester City so they should be backed to frustrate Liverpool on home turf.

They beat Manchester United 3-2 and Aston Villa 2-1 in December before victories to nil over Brentford, Tottenham, Everton and Wolves.

Arne Slot was able to rest most of his first-team regulars for Liverpool's 4-0 FA Cup win over Accrington and injured defender Joe Gomez and suspended forward Darwin Nunez are likely to be the only absentees for the Reds.

But Forest's squad also looks in great shape for the second half of the season and they will be looking to take advantage of Liverpool's leaky defence.

Slot's men remain formidable opponents, sitting top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings, but they were held to a 2-2 draw by Manchester United in their last league fixture before a 1-0 EFL Cup semi-final defeat at Tottenham.

Liverpool have conceded 11 goals in their last six league games, including draws with the Red Devils, Fulham and Newcastle, and they may drop more points against in-form Forest.

No goal before 26:00 - 5/6

Nottingham Forest are the only team to have beaten Liverpool in this season's Premier League, winning 1-0 at Anfield in September thanks to a 72nd-minute goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Another cagey start to the game is expected in the reverse fixture and backing no goal to be scored before the clock reaches 26:00 looks a good bet.

Liverpool have scored 26 goals in their last eight league matches but only two of those have come before the 30th minute.

Their 2-2 draw with Manchester United was goalless until the 52nd minute and Spurs youngster Lucas Bergvall scored the only goal of last week's EFL Cup semi-final first leg in the 86th minute.

Forest's nine home matches in the league have produced only six first-half goals and they struck in the 40th and 68th minutes of Saturday's cup win over Championship strugglers Luton.

Neco Williams to have one or more shots on target - 11/4

Forest defender Neco Williams won a Premier League medal as a youngster at Liverpool in 2019/20 and he will be eager to make an impact against his former club on Tuesday.

Williams has been getting forward to good effect in recent games, racking up eight shots in his last seven league appearances, and he is worth backing to have an effort on target.

Manchester United caused plenty of problems for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Reds' most recent league game, and that should encourage Forest's left-back Williams.

The Wales international registered a shot on target in his side's recent wins over Everton and Aston Villa and he may well test Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson this week.
