Fulham head to Manchester United in excellent away form and there are few reasons to believe they cannot maintain that in the FA Cup fifth round at Old Trafford, where the holders have been vulnerable on plenty of occasions.
The Red Devils have squeezed past the Cottagers 1-0 twice this season in the Premier League but may not be as fortunate on this occasion.
Fulham to win - 2/1
Manchester United upset the odds by winning last season’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, but their grip on the famous old trophy has been precarious and they could come unstuck against Marco Silva’s Fulham on Sunday.
United needed a last-gasp Harry Maguire header to beat a poor Leicester City side in the last round and the Red Devils were thankful there was no VAR in operation as the England defender was clearly offside when he netted.
But this could be the week when luck runs out for Ruben Amorim’s side as they have hardly been convincing on their own patch.
They recovered from conceding an early goal against struggling Ipswich Town in midweek to win 3-2, but that was just the fourth win they have posted in their last nine matches at Old Trafford.
The other teams they have beaten in that run have been Premier League basement boys Southampton, as well as Rangers, who they needed an injury-time Bruno Fernandes goal to see off in the Europa League.
That does not bode well for a visit from Fulham, who have not only pushed the Red Devils hard in two 1-0 defeats, but have lost just two of their 15 away games since losing at the Theatre of Dreams on the opening night of the season.
The Cottagers have won five of their last six road matches in a run that includes victories at Chelsea, Newcastle and Wolves, so they should have nothing to fear about taking on the holders.
Over 2.5 goals - 10/11
While both of this season’s meetings have ended in 1-0 United victories, there looks a strong chance that this tie may be a lot more open.
Fulham have been keen to get on the front foot when they have been on their travels, scoring at least twice in each of their last seven away games, while they have found the net every time they have been on the road since their last Old Trafford trip in August.
Silva’s team have kept just four away clean sheets this term and with all but two of United’s last 12 home games featuring at least three goals, there looks a strong chance that pattern could continue in Sunday’s clash.
Rodrigo Muniz to score at any time - 11/5
While Mexican striker Raul Jimenez leads the Cottagers’ goalscoring charts in the Premier League, Rodrigo Muniz has been Silva’s main man in the FA Cup and it is worth chancing he can find the net for the third successive tie.
Muniz was on target in the 4-1 third-round win over Watford, when he had six attempts at goal in his 45-minute appearance, and he then went on to score both goals in the 2-1 victory over Wigan.
He was also given the chance to impress in the midweek league trip to Wolves, when the faith placed in him was rewarded again with a goal in the 2-1 Molineux success, so his confidence should be sky high as he heads to Old Trafford hoping to help his team into the last eight.
