Manchester United v Everton Tips, Predictions and Odds

Manchester United have suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats to Fulham and Manchester City but the Red Devils will be determined to hit back when they host Everton in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

Those setbacks have done some serious damage to United’s top-four aspirations and they are now sixth, 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa, with only 11 games to go.

With a host of teams including West Ham, Newcastle and Brighton hot on their heels, Erik ten Hag will be hoping his team can get back on track against the relegation-threatened Toffees.

Having had their points deduction reduced from 10 points to six with immediate effect, Everton are now five points clear of the relegation places.

However, last weekend’s 3-1 loss at home to West Ham extended their winless run in the Premier League to ten, which shows there is still plenty of work to be done in their scrap for survival.

Manchester United to win - 5/6

United’s performances have dipped since Rasmus Hojlund picked up his latest injury, but they look a nice price to get back on the winning trail against Everton.

The Red Devils were poor in a 2-1 loss to Fulham in their last home match but there were plenty of positives to take from last Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at noisy neighbours City, who were 1-0 down at half-time and then required two goals in the final ten minutes from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland to land the spoils.

Prior to those disappointments, United had won four league games in a row while four of their last seven matches on home soil have yielded maximum points.

Hojlund will be missing again, which is a serious blow, but United have won their last four meetings with the Toffees, including a convincing 3-0 victory at Goodison Park in November, and are still in better heart than their visitors at present.

Everton are not yet clear of relegation danger and they head to Manchester following a ten-game winless run in the Premier League.

The Toffees were punished for not taking their chances in their recent 3-1 defeat at home to West Ham as they had won the shot count 22-12, but were undone by injury-time goals from Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez.

Star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now failed to score since October, an alarming dip in form which is seriously hampering their recent results.

Sean Dyche’s side have collected only two points from their last five away league games, failing to score on trips to Wolves, Fulham and Manchester City, and may be found wanting at Old Trafford.

Alejandro Garnacho to score at any time - 13/5

With Hojlund sidelined, Marcus Rashford is likely to lead the line and that means Alejandro Garnacho should start on his favoured left wing.

The 19-year-old regularly shows flashes of brilliance, highlighting that he is a potential star of the future, and he could get on the scoresheet against the Toffees.

Garnacho opened the scoring with one of the strikes of the season in United’s 3-0 win at Goodison Park in November, one of seven goals for the Argentinian this season.

Garnacho’s youthfullness often means that he tries to take matters into his own hands and only Bruno Fernandes has had more shots for United this season than his total of 52 in 36 matches.

With braces at home to West Ham and Aston Villa this season, Garnacho looks overpriced to bolster his tally further against the out-of-form visitors.

Ben Godfrey to be shown a card - 3/1

For the meantime at least, Ben Godfrey has locked down the right-back position for Everton with Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young unable to dislodge him.

But, up against the trickery of Garnacho, Godfrey could be in for a tough time and he looks a strong card candidate at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old has been restricted to only eight Premier League appearances this season but has already picked up bookings against Fulham and Tottenham.

Across the last three campaigns for Everton, Godfrey had collected ten yellow cards in 44 appearances and that includes a booking in a 3-1 defeat in last season’s FA Cup defeat against United at Old Trafford.
