Manchester United v Everton: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Everton will be hoping to spoil Ruben Amorim's first home Premier League game in charge of Manchester United when the two collide at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

After drawing 1-1 at Ipswich Town in his first match at the Red Devils' helm, Amorim guided his side to a 3-2 UEFA Europa League victory at home to Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening.

United had to come from 2-1 down to claim that victory and there still looks to be lots of work for the former Sporting manager to do until he gets the team really clicking.

Draw or Everton double chance - 11/8

It is still very early days in the Amorim era, but there have been positives from the opening two matches, none more so than seeing Rasmus Hojlund grab a brace in Europe.

Noussair Mazraoui also received praise for his impressive performance on Thursday after being deployed as one of three centre-backs, a positional change from his usual full-back role.

But there are also areas that need improvement and it will take time for Amorim to get his tactics across to the team, who are also getting used to the new 3-4-2-1 formation.

United still look susceptible at the back, conceding three times in the Portuguese tactician's two games in charge, and they will need to shape up in defence to stand any chance of winning silverware this season.

The Red Devils are on a six-game unbeaten run at home, winning five and drawing one, but the level of opposition during this period has been low and the one time they met a better team, Chelsea, they ended up hanging on for a share of the spoils.

Sunday's visitors Everton are not at the level of the Blues, but manager Sean Dyche is a wily tactician and he will set his team up as hard to beat as possible.

The Toffees arrive in Manchester without a win in four fixtures, but three of those have ended in draws against Fulham, West Ham United and Brentford and that is evidence of how difficult they are to beat.

Scoring goals has been an issue for Everton, who have gone three games without finding the back of the net and have just 10 strikes to their name in the league.

But given the transitional period United are in and the fact they are still getting used to Amorim's methods, there could be opportunities for Dyche's side to get on the scoresheet on Sunday.

Whether Everton have enough to record a first win at Old Trafford since December 2013 is another matter, but there is definitely enough fight in the team to suggest they can get something from the game and backing them in the double chance market is the play here.

Marcus Rashford to score or assist - 1/1

There are several United players hoping for a fresh start under Amorim and Marcus Rashford has already shown an improvement since the change in the dugout, with the Englishman scoring the opener in last weekend's draw at Ipswich.

He was dropped to the bench for Thursday's UEFA Europa League victory, coming on as a second-half substitute, but the 27-year-old could be reinstalled to the starting XI for this clash.

Rashford has a fantastic recent record against Everton, having scored two goals and registered three assists in his last seven appearances, and he looks capable of adding to either of those tallies in front of an expectant Old Trafford crowd.

Under 3.5 cards - 6/5

United have been ill-disciplined in the league this season, picking up 33 yellow cards and a red, but Amorim has already brought about an improvement in that area as his side didn't get a single caution at Portman Road last weekend.

Everton have rarely found themselves in the book with just 18 yellows - the second-lowest in the division - and one red received in the league. Dyche has instilled discipline into his side and they are not picking up needless cautions.

With the Toffees behaving themselves and United seemingly getting better in this area, going for under 3.5 cards is the play at Old Trafford.

There have been three or fewer cards in six of the last eight meetings and referee John Brooks may not be delving into his pocket that much in Manchester.
