There will be fresh optimism Old Trafford on Thursday when Ruben Amorim oversees his first home match in charge of Manchester United against Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League.
After a minor delay, the Portuguese was parachuted in from Sporting CP during the international break but has done well to temper expectations, especially after drawing his opening match in charge at Ipswich 1-1.
Marcus Rashford netted a second-minute opener at Portman Road but United took time to settle as Amorim immediately introduced his preferred tactics and not for the first time, had to rely on some superb saves from goalkeeper Andre Onana.
After three draws under Erik ten Hag, interim Ruud van Nistelrooy oversaw a 2-0 win over PAOK on matchday four but Bodo could prove more awkward opponents.
The previously unheralded Norwegians have developed a knack for European upsets - another may prove beyond them, but that's not to say they won't be able to pounce on any uncertainty among the United players.
Manchester United to win and both teams to score - 13/8
A new defensive set-up means United may take time to click at the back, especially with Amorim likely to try different combinations before settling on who stays and who is deemed surplus to requirements in the January and summer transfer windows.
The Red Devils should still win with some to spare but Bodo/Glimt are not to be underestimated. They won the first leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier against Crvena Zvezda before losing in Belgrade and have already beaten Porto and Braga in this competition.
That victory over Braga came on the road and they will relish the chance to play at Old Trafford.
Superlaget have beaten the likes of Celtic and Roma in recent years and they sit 12th in the table, three places above United heading into matchday five.
The Red Devils should get their first win of the Amorim era, but, despite keeping clean sheets in their last two at home - outclassing Leicester 3-0 in the league in the game after the PAOK victory - their new shape makes them vulnerable to conceding.
Bruno Fernandes anytime goalscorer - 8/5
Bruno Fernandes' demeanour has seen his status as United captain questioned, but few would argue against the notion that he has been their best and most consistent player since signing from Sporting in January 2020.
He and Amorim's spells at theEstadio Jose Alvaladedidn't coincide and there have been questions regarding whether he fits into his fellow Portuguese's 3-4-3/3-4-2-1 but after starting in an advanced role at Ipswich, he dropped deeper as the game went on.
That might be something he does more often as Amorim's reign progresses but for now, the coach may want to use his attacking output and the 30-year-old's recent numbers are striking.
Fernandes has scored five times in his last six matches for club and country and can add to his tally on Thursday.
Over 11 corners - 6/4
No team has taken more corners in this season's UEFA Europa League than United's 32 and they can keep up their average of eight per game in this fixture.
That is not to say that Bodo won't play their part and they have taken a decent 16 corners in the league phase of the 2024/25 competition, an average of four per match, and United's new defensive shape may give them space to exploit in wide areas and force corners.
Ipswich had corners on Sunday and Thursday's visitors can contribute something similar.
