Manchester United got a much-needed Premier League win at Southampton on Saturday and now they switch focus to the EFL Cup when they entertain League One Barnsley on Tuesday.
United boss Erik ten Hag is set to make plenty of changes for the third round League Cup tie, but the hosts should still comfortably progress past the Tykes.
Barnsley, who are seventh in the third tier, lost 3-0 at Stevenage on Saturday, so hardly head to Manchester with confidence and Darrell Clarke's side look set for a difficult evening against the six-time League Cup winners.
Over 2.5 Manchester United goals - 1/1
United have had a mixed start to the season, with disappointing defeats to Brighton and Liverpool mixed in with victories over Fulham and Southampton.
There remains plenty of question marks over Ten Hag's team, but they should at least get a routine win over League One Barnsley to boost their confidence.
The Red Devils struggled for half an hour at the weekend at St Mary's but once they went in front, United were impressive as Matthijs de Ligt, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnaco all got on the scoresheet.
Ten Hag's team have only so far failed to score in one game this term - the 3-0 home loss to Liverpool - and they do have plenty of attacking talent to rely upon, even if the Dutch coach opts to rotate his squad.
Barnsley were hammered 3-0 by Stevenage at the weekend and sit seventh in the third tier, with 10 points from their first six games.
Clarke's side could find themselves out of their depth at Old Trafford and the hosts' superiority should be evident throughout, with United expected to fire in at least three goals on the night on their way to smoothly making the fourth round.
Alejandro Garnacho to score anytime - 15/8
Garnacho has not always been a regular starter under Ten Hag, but after he came off the bench to score the late third goal at Southampton, the winger will hope for a promotion to the starting XI on Tuesday.
Garnacho has scored 17 goals in 91 appearances in all competitions for United and the Argentine is often relied upon to make an impact from out wide.
Despite making just one start so far this term, he has attempted seven shots, so Garnacho is clearly keen to show his attacking prowess when he does get a chance and, against a team from two divisions below, the 20-year-old has the ability to get on the scoresheet.
Harry Maguire to be booked - 8/1
Even though Harry Maguire has only started two of United’s four league games, he has been booked twice, including shortly after coming on at the weekend against Southampton.
Maguire is no stranger to a rash challenge that lands him in trouble with the referee and has accumulated 47 yellow cards for the Red Devils in total, so he looks a good option in the card market for this third-round clash.
The England international seems likely to start as Ten Hag opts to give more minutes to some of his fringe players and it would not be too much of a surprise to see him picking up another yellow card.
