Manchester City Women have made a great start in their quest to win their first Women’s Super League title since 2016 and will fancy their chances of claiming a comfortable win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs got off to a fine start with a 4-0 win over promoted Crystal Palace and will want to build on last week’s victory over West Ham as they look to push up from seventh in the table.
Manchester City Women to win & over 3.5 goals - 6/4
Manchester City Women missed out on winning the WSL on goal difference last season, but they have pushed themselves to the top of the standings after six matches and look well placed to complete their first title success in nine seasons.
Gareth Taylor’s team have been leaving nothing to chance and have claimed a maximum return from their matches after being held to a 2-2 against Arsenal at the Emirates in their opening clash of the campaign.
Confidence has also been boosted by a 2-0 victory over holders Barcelona in the Champions League and with 17 wins from their last 20 WSL home matches, they are difficult to oppose against Tottenham, who they beat 7-0 when the Londoners visited the Joie Stadium 12 months ago.
Spurs got their season off to a cracking start when they beat Crystal Palace 4-0, but they have been unable to live up to that promise.
They had to wait until last week to gain their second win of the campaign and a 2-1 success over winless West Ham courtesy of an injury-time own goal can hardly be classed as convincing.
Tottenham have the second leakiest defence in the league, having conceded 14 goals in their six matches and they have conceded the same number in their last five league games on the road, stretching back to last season.
A 3-0 defeat at Manchester United and a 5-2 loss at Chelsea in their last two league away games does not bode well and this could be the fifth in six WSL matches on their travels that has seen at least four goals.
Lauren Hemp to score at any time - 6/4
Manchester City’s main threat is Khadija Shaw, who finished last season as the WSL’s top goalscorer, but the Jamaica star is just 1/2 to score at any time and there could be value in looking elsewhere.
One player who stands out in this regard for the home side is Hemp, despite the fact the Lioness has found the net just twice this season.
Despite her underwhelming goal total, Hemp has had 21 shots in her last five games and had five shots on target in her previous home game against Aston Villa.
Hemp scored that day and there looks a strong chance she can boost her tally against a leaky Spurs defence.
Clare Hunt to be booked - 4/1
There will be a lot of pressure on the Tottenham backline to keep Shaw in check and central defender Hunt could be in for a difficult evening.
She has picked up a yellow card in three of her last four WSL appearances, and in another pressurised environment, there looks to be a strong chance that she might again find her way into the referee’s notebook.
The 25-year-old is an experienced campaigner, having played 25 times for Australia, and she will be happy to take one for the team in order to slow City's rampant attack down.
