Manchester City have already made their mark in the UEFA Women's Champions League by beating holders Barcelona, and they will not wish to slip up when they host Swedish side Hammarby.
Their opponents are still licking their wounds from the 9-0 loss they suffered against Barca, and look to be up against it when they face the Women’s Super League leaders.
Manchester City Women -3 on handicap - 5/4
The start of the season could not have gone much better for Manchester City and their excellent progress looks unlikely to hit a bump in the road when they entertain Hammarby in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Tuesday.
City have won all nine of their matches since they drew their opening Women’s Super League game of the season 2-2 at Arsenal, and it has not just been on the domestic stage that they have made waves.
Six wins and a draw from their seven WSL matches has them in good shape to go better than last term when they were pipped to the post by Chelsea on goal difference, but the highlight of the season so far was a 2-0 UEFA Women’s Champions League win over holders Barcelona, which has left many thinking the Citizens could be on the verge of a memorable campaign.
Hammarby, who were confirmed as third-placed finishers in the Swedish league season which ended last week, look to be in for a difficult night after Barcelona took their defeat to City out on them in the last round of matches, winning 9-0 in Spain.
And City have also had a reminder that they cannot take anything lightly as they were required to find two goals to claim a win at St Polten in their last game after they fell 2-1 down in Austria.
The Citizens were on the ball in beating Tottenham 4-0 on Friday and they are unlikely to allow their concentration to slip, so they can be expected to claim a comfortable success.
Khadija Shaw to score two or more goals - 1/1
City are expected to be in rampant form again on Tuesday and Jamaica striker Khadija Shaw can be relied upon to lead from the front.
She has been a revelation over the last two WSL seasons, scoring 20 and 21 goals, and with seven from as many outings this season, she could once again be the league’s top goalscorer.
Shaw scored a hat-trick in the win over Spurs and has also made a big impact in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this term, with a brace in the 3-0 qualifying win over Paris and also the key second goal on that memorable night against Barcelona.
Boss Gareth Taylor elected to start her on the bench against St Polten, but she was introduced at half-time when City needed a lift and she looks likely to start this time, which is bad news for her Swedish opponents as she could easily score at least twice in the third round of matches in the group stage.
Second half to be Manchester City Women’s highest-scoring half - 10/11
Manchester City are a short price to claim their third successive win in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage and lots of the goal markets look skinny too.
However, there looks a strong chance they could score the majority of their goals in the second half.
Their season has not been without the odd difficult time and they had to come from behind to win both at St Polten and in a recent league game at Liverpool, where Shaw rescued them with an injury-time winner in a 2-1 success.
They have scored more goals in the second half than the first in four of their last five matches and that pattern could continue.
