Manchester City v Real Madrid: Prediction, Tips and Odds

After last week's dramatic 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu, another compelling encounter between Manchester City and Real Madrid is expected in Wednesday's quarter-final second leg.

The Citizens thumped Real 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium in last season's semi-finals and they are 8/13 to beat their 4/1 visitors in 90 minutes once again.

Manchester City v Real Madrid betting tips and predictions

Manchester City to win and both teams to score @ 2/1

Manchester City showed their class and character as they battled back from 2-1 down to lead 3-2 in last week's first leg at the Bernabeu.

However, Federico Valverde's brilliant volley made it 3-3 in Madrid and another high-scoring contest is on the cards in Manchester.

The Citizens have won their last 12 home games in the Champions League, including a 4-3 victory over Real in the 2021/22 semi-finals and recorded a 4-0 win at the same stage of last season's competition.

Clean sheets have been scarce for City in Europe this term and both teams have scored in seven of their eight victories, five of which were by a 3-1 scoreline.

That correct score is 11/1 on Wednesday and, given that Crvena Zvezda, RB Leipzig and Copenhagen have all found the net in this season's defeats at the Etihad, Manchester City to win and both teams to score looks a solid bet.

Real pose a huge attacking threat through Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham, who scored at the Etihad for Borussia Dortmund last season.

But City should have Kevin De Bruyne back in the starting line-up, having missed the first leg due to illness, and they have won their last three Premier League matches by margins of 4-1, 4-2 and 5-1.

Phil Foden anytime goalscorer @ 12/5

Erling Haaland dominates the goalscorer markets but the striker had a quiet first leg and has not scored in any of his three appearances for City against Real.

Haaland's teammate Phil Foden is a more appealing bet to find the net at the Etihad, where he scored twice in last month's derby win over Manchester United and claimed a superb hat-trick in the recent victory against Aston Villa.

Foden's sumptuous second-half strike in Madrid made it 2-2 in the first leg, taking his tally for the Champions League campaign to five goals in six starts.

He has also notched 14 times in 28 Premier League starts this term and comes into the second leg as one of the most in-form players in Europe.

Rodrygo to score or assist a goal @ 15/8

Another attacking star lighting up the first leg was Real winger Rodrygo, who streaked clear of the City defence to put the hosts 2-1 up in the 14th minute.

Rodrygo also laid on a presentable chance for his fellow Brazil international Vinicius Junior and he looks worth backing to score or assist a goal at the Etihad.

He struck twice in injury-time during Real's stunning semi-final comeback against City in the 2021/22 Champions League semi-final and recorded some impressive stats this season.

Rodrygo has scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 25 La Liga starts, while he has six goal contributions in 681 minutes of Champions League football in 2023/24.
