Manchester United are reportedly primed to join the race to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
25-year-old Mbeumo has enjoyed his most productive goalscoring season of his career to date for Brentford, notching 18 Premier League goals.
The Cameroon international has stepped up to assume talisman status at the Gtech Community Stadium following the departure of Ivan Toney to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli last summer, with Mbeumo also supplying seven Premier League assists so far this term.
A player who has now established himself as one of the top wide forwards in England's top flight, Mbeumo is also believed to be one of Newcastle United's top transfer targets this summer.
With Man Utd the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League outside of the three relegated teams behind West Ham, it is clear attacking reinforcements are in order for Ruben Amorim's side this summer.
It is well documented that the Red Devils are keen on a move for Wolves' Matheus Cunha this summer, with the Brazilian reportedly having a £62.5m release clause in his contract at the Molineux, and it now appears as though United will try to also attract Mbeumo to Old Trafford.
Typically lining up on the right flank for Brentford, United boss Amorim could look to utilise Mbeumo on the right side of his attacking front three within his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.
Speaking about potential transfer interest in Mbeumo, Brentford manager Thomas Frank told Sky Sports:
If the price is right - and that's going to be expensive - then I'm sure the club will be open to it.
The Danish manager is pragmatic in his outlook regarding Mbeumo's potential departure, adding: "I've said many times: we are a selling club, but at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren't selling clubs."
