But head coach Steve Cherundolo will be targeting a positive performance in the third game and is unlikely to make wholesale changes.

While Los Angeles FC should be close to full strength, their opponents are likely to take the opportunity to rest first-choice players.

Bouanga showed flashes of his pace and power in the losses to Chelsea and Esperance de Tunis and may be ready to make the difference against a largely second string Flamengo side with one eye on the knockout rounds.

There should be no lack of motivation from LAFC players, including tough tackling USA international Timothy Tillman, who will be aiming to win his midfield battles.

Already-eliminated LA FC have no reason to hold back and their competitive edge could be epitomised by Tillman, while Denis Bouanga is their most dangerous forward and is overpriced to get on the scoresheet.
