Liverpool Women v Chelsea Women: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Chelsea are four points behind Women's Super League leaders Manchester City, but there is no need for the champions to panic as they have won all five of their matches and have two games in hand.

However, they head to St Helens to take on Liverpool, who have won this fixture for the last two seasons and who are looking to recapture the form that took them to a fourth-place finish last term.

Liverpool Women v Chelsea Women betting tips and predictions

Chelsea Women to win and both teams to score - 2/1

It was a summer of big changes at Chelsea after Emma Hayes’ departure, but life has been good under her replacement Sonia Bompastor, who has made a perfect start to the quest for a sixth successive Women’s Super League title.

The Blues find themselves four points behind Man City and will be mindful that Gareth Taylor’s side show no signs of slowing down after their 4-0 win over Tottenham on Friday.

However, Chelsea could have done nothing more than win their five games and victories in their two games in hand would take them to the summit.

They start that quest at St Helens on Sunday when they take on Liverpool, knowing that it is only a week since they eased to a 5-0 win on their last visit to Merseyside to play Everton.

That took their goal tally to 20 in their five matches, but the Reds have proved a difficult obstacle in the last two seasons as Chelsea have lost their last two away games against them, so the home team will not be that intimidated at the thought of a visit from the champions.

Liverpool had a strong season last term when four straight closing victories helped them to an impressive fourth spot, six points ahead of Manchester United.

However, this term has been underwhelming in comparison as they started with disappointing draws against Leicester and West Ham.

They did gain a late win at Tottenham and were stung by an injury-time goal in a 2-1 loss to City, so there is a chance they can build on last week’s win at Aston Villa.

Both teams have scored in each of their six league games this season and that can happen again, but Chelsea have notched at least twice in 14 of their last 17 away WSL clashes.

Aggie Beever-Jones to score at any time - 1/1

A total of 13 players have scored for Chelsea in the WSL already this season, but it could be striker Aggie Beever-Jones who makes her mark at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Opportunities have been thin on the ground for the academy product this season and she has started just two of the Blues’ five league games.

However, despite playing just 232 minutes, she has mustered 13 shots, eight of which have been on target, including four in the win at Goodison.

She scored her second goal of the campaign in that win, having also found the net in her other start against Crystal Palace, so she looks a decent price to find the net on Sunday.

Olivia Smith to have over 2.5 shots - 11/10

Their previous wins against Chelsea should give Liverpool some confidence and Olivia Smith is likely to be at the heart of a positive Reds' approach.

The Canadian scored against both West Ham and Man City and is making a big impression in her first season in the league with 20 shots in six appearances.

Smith has had at least three efforts on goal in four of her last five league appearances and a chance can be taken on her doing so again.
