After a much-changed side suffered a 1-0 FA Cup shock at Championship Plymouth, Liverpool were again left disappointed by their controversial 2-2 Merseyside derby draw at Everton.
Wednesday's match was the last such occasion to be played at Goodison Park before the Toffees head to their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock and was played in thrilling fashion, with James Tarkowski netting a late equaliser.
Curtis Jones was sent off for his role in the aftermath and will miss this game, while head coach Arne Slot and assistant Sipke Hulshoff were also shown red cards but are expected to be on the touchline on Sunday.
The Reds have won nine of the last 10 meetings at Anfield, with Wolves sole success coming in December 2010.
However, Vitor Pereira's December arrival has made a clear difference at Molineux and they head north from the Midlands on the back of 2-0 wins over Aston Villa in the league and Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup.
With only two away victories in the league in 2024/25, it is tough to see them adding to their tally, but they could at least trouble a home defence that has conceded six times in its last four league home outings.
Liverpool and both teams to score - 6/4
After such a sparkling season to date, the Plymouth defeat and Everton draw means Liverpool have only won two of their last five - losing to PSV Eindhoven but beating Bournemouth and Tottenham - and Slot's passionate behaviour at Goodison has sparked suggestions that their composure is started to wane.
Wolves showed an immediate improvement under Pereira before losing four in a row, but have kept their confidence up with a couple of cup wins and looked good in the victory over Villa.
However, history is not on their side ahead of Sunday's match and they also face a frightening attack.
The Reds have scored at least twice in their last nine home league matches, grabbing 22 strikes in that time, but have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four in the Premier League at Anfield.
A home win and over 3.5 goals is a handy price at 11/10, but there is slightly more value in that match outcome and both teams to score.
Matheus Cunha to score at anytime - 7/2
That brings goals into play and Matheus Cunha is handily priced in the anytime market. The Brazilian seems settled again after fresh transfer rumours in the recent window, but will almost inevitably depart this summer.
Cunha has carried Wolves at times, with his 26 goals in all competitions since the start of last season 11 more than anyone else.
The Brazilian has also scored in his team's last two games and is clearly a player in form.
Pereira will likely start the 25-year-old as a central striker, with a player either side, but the forward's liking for drifting around and into space makes him difficult to pick up and he is tipped to score for the first time against the Reds.
Nelson Semedo to be booked - 9/4
Regular bettors will be aware of Nelson Semedo's disciplinary record, the Portuguese having been booked seven times this season.
The 30-year-old has also been cautioned three times against Liverpool in a combined 12 appearances for Wolves and Barcelona and was red carded in this fixture on the final day of last season following a high challenge on Alexis Mac Allister.
Cody Gakpo is a doubt but if he doesn't make it, Semedo is still expected to be challenged by the Dutchman's likely replacement Luis Diaz.
The Portuguese is a fine player, but 35 yellow cards in 151 Premier League appearances is some going and he could find his name taken for a 36th time in the English top-flight.
