Liverpool's Mohamed Salah priced at Evens to score on Premier League return against Brentford

Mohamed Salah is set to make his highly-anticipated return from injury to face Brentford and we’ve priced up the Liverpool talisman at Evens to mark his comeback with a goal.

Liverpool had prepared for Salah’s absence in light of his African Cup of Nations commitments, with the forward jetting out to the Ivory Coast in early January to represent Egypt.

However, Salah suffered a hamstring injury during an encounter with Ghana on 18 January and has been in rehabilitation since, with the club unwilling to rush him back into the first-team fold.

Salah returned to training this week and Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he expects him to be available ahead of Saturday’s trip to the Gtech Community Stadium.

Speaking in Friday’s pre-match press conference, Klopp said: “Mo’s back in full training. That brings him automatically back in contention of course.”

Mohamed Salah odds v Brentford:

  • To Score at Anytime - Evs
  • To Score First - 7/2
  • To Score Last - 7/2
  • To Score 2 or More - 9/2
  • To Score 3 or More - 20/1

While Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez have stepped up in Salah’s absence by netting nine goals between them, Salah’s return is a timely one as Liverpool battle it out on four fronts.

Currently top of the Premier League, the Reds have a date at Wembley booked with Chelsea in the EFL Cup final and remain in the hunt for FA Cup and Europa League glory.

Salah had been instrumental in their Premier League charge during the first half of the campaign, scoring 14 goals and registering eight assists across 20 appearances.

His strike in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in December was his 200th for Liverpool and made him only the fifth player in the club’s history to reach the landmark.

Salah hasn’t featured for Liverpool since Klopp announced he will be departing the club at the end of the season, with his last appearance coming in the 4-2 win over Newcastle on New Year’s Day.

And if there was an opportune fixture for Salah to make his return then a trip to west London is ideal, with the forward averaging a goal per game against Brentford in the Premier League.

The Egyptian scored twice when the two sides met in December. Slotting a trademark left-footed finish beyond Mark Flekken for his first, Salah headed home his second and he is 9/2 to score two or more against the Bees on Saturday.

Thomas Frank’s outfit kept their first clean sheet in 12 matches during the 2-0 win over Wolves last weekend but conceding goals has been an issue for Brentford, recording just one shutout at home.

Injuries have been rare in Salah’s career and he will be eager to get back up and running, not least because Erling Haaland has extended his advantage at the top of the goalscoring charts.

Salah is two behind the Norwegian and 6/1 to collect the Top Goalscorer gong at the end of the campaign.

Those unwilling to take on the Man City marksman will find Salah is the 5/4 favourite in the Top Goalscorer without Erling Haaland market. The Liverpool ace is one goal clear of the next man in the betting, Dominic Solanke.
