Liverpool hope to take another step towards reclaiming the Premier League title by seeing off struggling Ipswich Town at Anfield.
Arne Slot's Reds can do no wrong at the moment and Town fans have good grounds to be anxious less than a week after they were thumped 6-0 at home by Manchester City.
Ipswich +3 @ 20/21
Liverpool have enjoyed another special week in what is turning into a stellar season and it's no surprise to see them quoted at 1/9 to see off Ipswich at Anfield on Saturday.
Slot's men started the week with a pair of late Darwin Nunez goals to deliver a 2-0 win at Brentford in the Premier League, a result that didn't look likely with the score 0-0 and the clock entering the red.
Three days later they were put through the mill again, this time by French side Lille in the UEFA Champions League, but emerged 2-1 winners to nail down their place in the last 16 with a round of games spare.
Those two results stretch Liverpool's current run to just one loss in 29 matches and, with so much wind in their sails, they are going to prove a tough challenge for Ipswich to deflate.
And it isn't as though the Tractor Boys are in particularly good form.
Just when Ipswich looked as though they may have clicked with a 2-0 win over Chelsea followed by a 2-2 draw against Fulham to ease them to within goal difference of escape from the bottom three, the wheels have been unbolted once more.
First it was Brighton who won 2-0 at Portman Road and then last Sunday came the 6-0 humbling by Man City.
Now they head to Anfield as 14/1 underdogs, yet they could actually have a few things in their favour. Perhaps not enough to suggest they can cause the biggest upset of the top-flight season to date, but enough to suggest they can avoid a hammering.
First, of course, they have had the week off, unlike Liverpool, a week in which McKenna has presumably drummed into them that a performance as feeble as that against City will not be tolerated again.
They have been competitive in so many games and they need to regain that spirit.
And then there's Liverpool's impressive run of form.
You can't argue with the bare stats, yet if you discount the 4-0 thrashing of Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup, their last five results have been a below-par draw with Manchester United, another draw with Nottingham Forest, an EFL Cup loss to Tottenham and narrow and hard-earned wins against Brentford and Lille.
The season is in slog phase now and getting wins is the bottom line rather than winning admirers. To that end expect Liverpool to win, but Ipswich to land a +3 handicap bet.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last 14 home matches, but only four have been won by three-goal margins or more, one of which was against Accrington.
Sam Morsy to be booked - 7/4
As an indicator of quite how feebly Ipswich performed against City last Sunday, not a single Ipswich player picked up a yellow card.
They put in only 13 tackles; they committed just four fouls. Even more remarkably, none of those fouls were committed by Sam Morsy.
The Egyptian midfielder has been magnificent for the Tractor Boys rising through the divisions and never shied away from trouble with referees.
In his last three seasons at Town he has picked up 10, 12 and 14 yellow cards and already has seven to his name this term.
He is the uber-competitor, often goes the wrong side of the line and, under enormous pressure from the hosts, don't expect him to be as acquiescent as he was last week.
He's 7/4 to be booked and can deliver this time.
Liam Delap Over 0.5 Shots on Target - 5/4
There are some seriously short prices on the Liverpool side of the player shots coupon and understandably so.
However, Liam Delap, Ipswich's goal-getter-in-chief, can register at least one on target.
The eight-goal striker is averaging 1.8 shots per game and even in last weekend's debacle fired off two efforts, with one of them on target.
