Having lost three of their last four League One matches, Charlton manager Nathan Jones has come under-fire from supporters and their struggles could continue at a Lincoln side that are also looking to respond to a poor run of form.
Addicks fans had pretty high hopes of a challenge for promotion this season but a run of only two wins in their last 11 games leaves them 13th in League One, four points and four places behind Lincoln.
The Imps are also going through a sticky period, having failed to win any of their last five league games, although they have faced top two Wycombe and Wrexham during that period.
Prior to then, Lincoln had been going well and they have been pretty efficient at the LNER Stadium, where they have won four of their last seven.
Back in familiar surroundings against a Charlton side severely starved of confidence, Lincoln may feel that they can return to winning ways.
Lincoln City - 6/5
Both sides will be desperate to claim maximum points and ease the pressure of their current situations, but hosts Lincoln looks most likely to deliver on that promise.
Charlton were extremely poor in a 2-1 defeat at home to Crawley on Tuesday, managing only three shots on target against those relegation-threatened opponents, and it means that they have lost three of their last four.
The Addicks have picked up only four points from their last six away league matches and, although Lincoln are without a win in five, they’ve faced some strong opponents in that spell.
Lincoln were beaten 3-2 at home to league leaders Wycombe in their last home league fixture but they had won four of their previous six outings, including against fifth-placed Stockport.
So Charlton may be the ideal opponents for Michael Skubala’s side and, while they need to be more ruthless in front of goal, a leaky away defence provides the perfect opportunity.
The Imps were 3-1 winners when entertaining Charlton in League One last season and they can again put home comforts to good use, in a match that could be a must-win for visiting boss Jones.
Lincoln to win & both teams to score - 9/2
While Lincoln are fancied to prevail, it may also be worth backing Charlton to get a consolation strike as they have failed to score in only one of their last nine league games and they have a strong attacking line-up.
Lincoln have seen both teams score in seven of their eight home league outings this season and they have conceded in five of their seven league victories this term.
Interestingly, both teams have also netted in six of their seven previous league meetings between these sides, so take Lincoln to edge a thriller.
Ben House to score at anytime - 13/5
The goals have dried up for Lincoln striker Ben House recently but a showdown with a Charlton defence that have conceded two or more in four of their last six games may provide the perfect tonic.
House has chipped in with four league goals this season and three of those have come from his seven appearances at home, suggesting that he may perform better when roared on by his passionate supporters.
The 25-year-old has done well since arriving from National League side Eastleigh two seasons ago and looks the type to progress in the coming months. A goal against Charlton could give him the lift he needs to kick on.
