Leicester v Sheffield Wednesday: Tips, predictions and odds

The latest betting tips, predictions and odds for Leicester v Sheffield Wednesday.

Championship leaders Leicester will be aiming to further consolidate their place at the top of the standings when they welcome relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday.

The Foxes will head into the midweek round of fixtures sitting 11 points clear of the chasing pack and a fourth-straight league win would edge them ever closer to a return to the Premier League.

Wednesday can only dream of being in such a position, as the Owls have been marooned in the bottom three for much of the season, and they are currently five points adrift of safety having lost 12 of their 15 away matches in the division.

Danny Rohl did see his side snap a four-game winless run in the league with Friday's 2-0 home success over Birmingham, but it doesn't get much tougher than a trip to the leaders and Wednesday could be in for a long evening at the King Power.

Leicester v Sheffield Wednesday betting tips and predictions

Leicester to win to nil - 11/10

Not only will Tuesday's match pit two sides at opposing ends of the Championship table, but it will also see the division's meanest defence in Leicester face the lowest scorers in the league in Wednesday.

Only nine of the 24 goals Leicester have conceded this season have come at the King Power and they have been especially ruthless on home soil of late, winning seven of their last eight on their own patch across all competitions since their last home defeat to Leeds in early November.

By contrast, Wednesday have only avoided defeat three times on the road all season and since last doing so at Preston in December, they have been beaten 4-0 twice on their travels in the league and also lost 4-1 at Coventry in the FA Cup.

The Owls did claim a spirited 1-1 draw when these two sides met in the reverse fixture at Hillsborough in November, but with home advantage this time around, it is hard to see beyond a Leicester win and that is likely to be accompanied by a clean-sheet.

Patson Daka anytime scorer - 11/8

Zambia international Patson Daka barely featured for Leicester over the opening months of the season, but he has forced his way back into Enzo Maresca's thinking of late, with all nine of his league starts this season coming since the beginning of December.

Daka has repaid the faith shown in him by his manager by netting seven goals over that period, including three in his last two appearances against Watford and Stoke.

With Kelechi Iheanacho unlikely to feature as he makes his way back from the Africa Cup of Nations and 37-year-old Jamie Vardy being used sparingly at this stage of his career, Daka should start on Tuesday and is likely to provide Leicester's main scoring threat.

Sheffield Wednesday over 2.5 cards - 5/6

One of the reasons behind Wednesday's struggles this season has perhaps been a lack of discipline, as they have received a league-high 76 yellow cards and have also had three players sent off.

The Owls have received at least three cards, yellow or red, across six of their last seven Championship fixtures, and given they should be doing plenty of defending at the King Power, that is an unwanted record that could well be extended.

In terms of individual offenders, Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has picked up more yellow cards than any other player in Rohl's squad this season, collecting his ninth in the league during Friday's win over Birmingham.
