Leicester City v Fulham: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Two home games in a week were supposed to transform Leicester City’s Premier League season but after losing the first it's critical they get something from the second against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

The Cottagers will be hoping to follow Crystal Palace's lead on Wednesday by trekking to the King Power and walking away with three points, though to do so they will need to improve on their performance in defeat at West Ham on Tuesday.

Draw - 13/5

The alarm bells that were sounding at the King Power following a five-game Premier League losing streak can be heard all around the country now after Leicester's 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Leicester had snapped a tough run of games against some of the division's better sides by crushing QPR 6-2 on Saturday in the FA Cup third round, and Foxes' fans hoped that might be the springboard to an upturn in form in the league.

But optimism disappeared on Wednesday when goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marc Guehi condemned City to a sixth straight league defeat to leave them firmly stuck in 19th in the table.

If Wednesday night felt like a big fixture, then the visit of Fulham looks massive, and while it's too early to describe any single game as a must-win, this has to come pretty close for Ruud van Nistelrooy's strugglers.

Where they can be encouraged going into Saturday's showdown with Marco Silva's men is that they played well for a half against the Eagles and Fulham are hardly pulling up trees at the moment.

Fulham went to West Ham on Tuesday on a decent eight-game league unbeaten run. It was a streak that included wins over Brighton and Chelsea and draws against high-fliers Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Cottagers are in the top half on merit and playing some decent possession-based football. However, they were very poor in the 3-2 defeat at the Hammers and have actually won only two of their last 10 in the league.

Six draws in their last nine hint at a team who can compete with anyone but will make mistakes, and that pretty much sums up Leicester as well. The difference, of course, is that the Foxes are losing games whereas Fulham are not.

Leicester had 21 shots to Palace's nine on Wednesday - Jamie Vardy had six on his own, but just one on target.

The Foxes are, at least, competitive, and they can't be giving up hope against a Fulham side who draw too many games to be massively attractive at odds-on.

James Justin to have over 0.5 shots on target - 11/4

Roaming Foxes' right-back James Justin had two of Leicester's 21 shots against Palace on Wednesday night and while he might be part of a questionable defence, his attacking credentials are impressive.

Justin is averaging a shot a game this season, only four of his team-mates - all playing much further forward than he does - are ahead of him.

He scored twice in the 6-2 demolition of Championship side QPR in the FA Cup last weekend and now has four goals this term.

Van Nistelrooy likes his full-backs to get forward and Justin is clearly a threat and looks a fair bet to have over 0.5 shots on target.

Raul Jimenez to commit over 1.5 fouls - 13/8

Defending from the front is the way of modern football and Raul Jimenez is as aware of his duties defensively as much as his primary role of scoring goals.

The Mexican centre-forward committed four fouls at the London Stadium against West Ham on Tuesday, and only the uncompromising Sasa Lukic and full-back Kenny Tete have been blown up for fouls more often than Jimenez in England's top flight this season.

Silva will try to dominate Leicester with an intense press and a high backline, and for that to work there is the responsibility for the forwards to work hard in disrupting the opponent.

That, in turn, can lead to increased fouls numbers chalked up by Jimenez, who is happy to put his foot in.
