Leicester City v Chelsea: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Chelsea will be looking for all three points when they make the trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

A strong start to the season means Chelsea enter this weekend sitting third in the Premier League, ahead of rivals Arsenal, although the Blues domestic form has taken a bit of a dip in recent weeks.

Enzo Maresca’s men have managed only one win in their last five league games while they also crashed out of the League Cup via a 2-0 loss at Newcastle towards the end of last month, and the Italian will be expecting a return to winning ways at former employers Leicester.

Leicester City v Chelsea betting tips and predictions

Chelsea double result - 13/10

Chelsea, who underwent another busy transfer window in the summer, have largely impressed during the early days of Marseca’s reign, but one standout has been their strong away form.

The Blues won their opening three league matches of the campaign by an aggregate score of 10-2, while a 2-1 loss at Anfield and 1-1 draw at Old Trafford are solid results given the opposition.

Leicester are certainly closer to the level of the teams Chelsea have thrashed on their travels, Wolves and West Ham, than they are to Liverpool and Manchester United and Blues fans will be expecting another convincing win on Saturday.

Five of the last six meetings between the pair have gone the way of Chelsea and with nine points between the sides after 11 games, it seems likely the visitors will make it six from seven this weekend.

Leicester are winless in four in all competitions, being thrashed 5-2 (EFL Cup) and 3-0 (Premier League) by Manchester United and 3-1 by Nottingham Forest in that run. Forest enter the weekend on the same points as Chelsea, suggesting a familiar feeling may be coming the Foxes’ way when the Blues come to town.

The absence of creative fulcrum Facundo Buonanotte due to an accumulation of yellow cards is another reason to be worried about Leiecster’s chances, as is the season-ending injury to key winger Abdul Fatawu, with the Ghanaian another huge loss.

Chelsea led within five minutes in their wins at Wolves and West Ham and they could once again dominate from start to finish against a struggling side on Saturday.

Pedro Neto to score or assist - 1/1

A battle broke out at the start of the season between Chelsea’s left-wingers for the starting berth alongside Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer behind Nicolas Jackson in the Blues’ attacking unit.

Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto left Mykhailo Mudryk in their wake pretty easily to make it a two-horse race, one which Sancho seemed to have won.

However, a combination of poor form and an injury for Sancho gave Neto the upper hand, and he hasn’t looked back since. The Portuguese has looked lively of late, taking 13 shots across his last four matches for club and country and he is having an impact on results too.

Neto scored the solitary goal in Chelsea’s draw at Old Trafford before also netting for Portugal in a 5-1 rout of Poland last Friday. He notched an assist in the Blues’ 2-1 win of Newcastle and tends to perform best when featuring from the off, being directly involved in five goals in his last eight starts for club and country.

Leicester have shipped a combined 18 times in their last seven matches and are likely to concede a few against Chelsea, with an in-form Neto fancied to be involved in at least one of those goals.

Stephy Mavididi to be booked - 9/2

With Buonanotte and Fatawu out, creative duties will fall on the shoulders of Stephy Mavididi and while he is a talented winger who is capable of burdening that responsibility, he may be a bit preoccupied with things at the other end of the pitch.

Malo Gusto is expected to be back for Chelsea and his attacking talent needs no introduction, with Mavididi set to be the unlucky winger tasked with keeping tabs on the tricky right-back.

The Leicester winger has committed 10 fouls in as many Premier League appearances and those offences are seemingly becoming more sinister, with Mavididi being booked in each of his last two league games.

With the Foxes likely to be under the cosh for large periods on Saturday, Mavididi makes appeal in the cards market at a big price.
