Middlesbrough, surprise EFL Cup semi-finalists last season, kick off their 2024/25 campaign with a trip to rivals Leeds United for one of five all-Championship ties in the first round.
Championship favourites Leeds have had no real success in this competition recently and were bundled out in round two last term by League Two side Salford City.
They will be keen to get the win, though, after dropping two points in a 3-3 draw against Portsmouth on Saturday, while Boro will be keen to build on their season-opening 1-0 win over Swansea City.
Leeds United v Middlesbrough will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports UHDR.
Leeds United v Middlesbrough will be played at 20:00 on Wednesday 14th August at Elland Road, Leeds.
Leeds and Middlesbrough met twice in the Championship last season with the Whites winning both games, 3-2 at home and 4-3 away.
They also did the double over Boro in their previous campaign in the same division - again the Championship - in 2019/20.
Leeds have been involved in four penalty shoot-outs in their last nine EFL Cup ties, losing three of them.
Boro were EFL Cup semi-finalists last season, winning six of their seven ties in 90 minutes.

Reserve keeper Karl Darlow started for Daniel Farke in the EFL Cup last season and may well do so again.
This tie looks like an obvious chance to give defenders Sam Byram and Max Wober a start, while Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford, used off the bench against Portsmouth, should start up front.
Micahel Carrick will also make changes, with midfielder Jonny Howson set for a start and Delano Burgzorg and Micah Hamilton hoping to play from the off in attack.
