Leeds v Millwall: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Leeds have the chance to move top of the Championship table with Leicester City not in league action this weekend, but visitors Millwall are unlikely to make things easy at Elland Road on Sunday.

The Whites lie three points behind the Foxes ahead of the action on Sunday, while they trail City by just one on goal difference, so a two-goal victory would be enough to see them go top of the pile.

Leeds to win to nil - 11/10

While the Foxes have been wilting, Daniel Farke’s side have hit their stride in the early stages of 2024 and can look back on a fantastic run of form.

They are yet to lose a league fixture since the turn of the year and have won 11 of their 12 assignments, with their only dropped points coming away from home against Huddersfield earlier this month.

Defensively they have looked almost impenetrable, conceding just three goals in these 12 fixtures, keeping nine clean sheets, earning them the division’s best defensive record with a mere 28 goals conceded from 37 fixtures.

That will come as bad news for the Lions, who have averaged under a goal-per-game in the Championship this season and have looked laboured in front of goal despite their recent upturn in form.

The Lions are unbeaten in four games, but three of those fixtures came against sides in the bottom half of the table and they remain unconvincing going forward, scoring just seven goals across their last 10 league assignments.

Four of these 10 games have ended with Millwall losing and failing to score and a fifth loss to nil looks likely at Elland Road.

Under 2.5 goals - 11/10

Title challengers Leeds may possess a flourishing line-up of attackers, but their games have been surprisingly low-scoring of late and another composed display could be the order of the day on Sunday.

The Whites’ 2-0 win at Hillsborough last weekend was the fourth time under 2.5 goals has landed in their last five matches and their third low-scoring affair in succession, with just five goals being scored across these three fixtures.

Millwall have been keeping things tight recently, too, with their last three games producing just four goals in total and 12 of their last 16 Championship matches featuring fewer than three goals.

In fact, Millwall’s average of 2.27 goals-per-game is the lowest in the division and just 39% of their away games this season have gone over the 2.5 goal line, so neutrals should not expect any fireworks on Sunday.

Patrick Bamford to score anytime - 5/4

Three Leeds players have scored at least 10 Championship goals this season, but it is their fourth-highest goalscorer who looks the most likely to find the net on Sunday.

Patrick Bamford spent the first half of the season limited to appearances from the bench amid fitness problems, but the 30-year-old forward finally made his first start of the season on New Year’s Day and has been on fire in front of goal ever since.

He scored the opener at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend to make it eight goals from 10 competitive starts this season and he has only failed to find the net in two of these 10 starts.

Bamford scored twice in a 3-2 win the last time Milwall visited Elland Road and he could make the difference again on Sunday.
