Leeds v Blackburn: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Leeds have dropped points in three of their last four matches and are playing catch-up once again, so they know another slip-up against Blackburn this weekend could prove very costly.

Rovers are fighting for their lives but aren’t easy to predict - they put five past Sunderland a week ago and then shipped five at Bristol City - so it’s anyone’s guess which Blackburn will turn up at Elland Road.

Leeds v Blackburn betting tips and predictions

Leeds & Both Teams to Score - 15/8

Combine the fact that Leeds are the only side in the Championship still unbeaten at home and that Blackburn boast the second-worst defensive record in the division, a home win with a few goals looks on the cards.

The nerves that have afflicted Leeds of late may not go away and Blackburn are scrapping for their lives, so don’t expect a walk in the park for Daniel Farke’s men.

However, Leeds have won ten matches in which both teams have scored and that looks a fruitful way to go, with the hosts definitely short enough in the 90-minute betting.

You wouldn’t say they have lost their way, but their last four matches have featured frustrating draws against Watford and Sunderland and a 2-1 loss at Coventry.

And Blackburn, despite the lie of the league table, have tightened up immeasurably under John Eustace. He had inherited a side which was winless in eight with six defeats.

Under Eustace they have lost just four of 13 and drawn seven.

They remain deep in trouble given that their final two games are against Coventry and Leicester and few would have foreseen Wednesday night’s 5-0 thumping by Bristol City given how obdurate Eustace was making them.

Just a week earlier they themselves had won 5-1 at Sunderland, followed by a 0-0 draw against Southampton, so the annihilation at Ashton Gate has set them back.

With 23-goal Sammie Szmodics in their side they will always have a puncher’s chance and if Leeds are as tentative as they were in the 0-0 draw against Sunderland, then Rovers will grow in confidence.

Eustace’s men would take a point, but may well be chasing the game at some point and that should open the match up.

Recent results at the very top of the Championship show it can be baffling, but Leeds have the class that can enable them to win this well.

Half With Most Goals - First - 2/1

Leeds’ last nine matches have produced 23 goals, 13 of which have come in the first half and that’s indicative of how their season as a whole has played out.

Their matches have produced the grand total of 109 goals, 60 of which have come before half-time. That’s definitely an oddity though, even the Blackburn split - 58-69 - is narrower than is often the case.

Leeds will want a fast start after recent blips and the first half being the highest scoring looks over-priced.

Corner Handicap Leeds -4 - 6/5

Even as Rovers were getting crushed 5-0 at Bristol City on Wednesday, Eustace’s men were still piling up the corners.

Blackburn chalked up eight of them, seven more than against Southampton a game before, a match in which they saw just 31 per cent of the ball and were constantly under the cosh.

The stat against Saints is more revealing than the eight against Bristol City, because at Elland Road they will also be on the back foot for long periods.

Leeds average almost seven corners per home game and can fly past that mark, suggesting they can also land the corner handicap honours.
