La Liga 2024/25: Predictions, Tips and Odds

Real Madrid stormed to the La Liga title with 95 points last season and Racing Post's Liam Flin expects more dominance from Los Blancos this term, so advises checking out other outright markets in Spain.

Carlo Ancelotti's men were imperious last campaign, shaking off a surprise title challenge from Girona and going on to finish 10 points clear of Barcelona at the summit.

They have added star Kylian Mbappe to an already stacked squad and it could well be an uphill battle for their El Clasico rivals, who are now under the stewardship of Hansi Flick and return to the Camp Nou in December.

Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, Girona and Real Sociedad are among the other clubs looking to cause a stir, while the relegation battle looks equally intriguing this term.

La Liga 2024/25 betting tips and predictions

Atletico Madrid to win without Real Madrid & Barcelona - 6/4

As if Real Madrid were not relentless enough last term, winning La Liga and the Champions League, but they have also added the services of world-class talent Mbappe, who scored 44 goals in all competitions last season.

Brazilian starlet Endrick has also arrived and joins up with compatriot and Ballon d'Or candidate Vinicius Junior, while Jude Bellingham will look to run the show in midfield again.

Not since the 2007–8 season have Real Madrid won successive La Liga titles, but that could be about to change.

Barca should finish second more comfortably than last term, with the likes of Lamine Yamal and Pedri impressing at Euro 2024 and, if they manage to snap up Dani Olmo, their midfield will be enviably strong.

That takes us to the betting without the big two and Atletico Madrid are a solid pick at 6/4.

Girona are unlikely to maintain the levels they showed last season, due to the added burden of the Champions League, the loss of Savinho to Manchester City and the likely exit of Artem Dovbyk to Roma.

Atleti finished nine points behind Barca last term, but still remain one of the strongest clubs in Spain and the addition of Robin Le Normand improves them at the back.

Athletic Bilbao to finish in top four - 7/4

Athletic Bilbao placed fifth in La Liga last term, finishing eight points off the Champions League places, but they could close that gap this season.

Girona will likely drop out of the top four for the reasons mentioned above, meaning a space opens up and Athletic look well-placed to capitalise.

They are in great hands under experienced boss Ernesto Valverde and the best news coming into the new season is that Nico Williams, who dazzled for Spain over the summer, looks set to stay.

Braga's Alvaro Djalo has also been brought in after a decent campaign in the Primeira Liga and a top-four finish looks well in reach for them.

Espanyol to be relegated - 5/2

The La Liga relegation betting looks seriously tight with favourites Las Palmas 6/5 and seventh favourites Osasuna just 11/4 and it could be worth looking at the slightly bigger prices.

With that in mind, Espanyol look a fine bet at 5/2 to go straight back down.

Espanyol gained promotion from the Segunda Division last term, having placed fourth in the standings and gone up through the play-offs.

But they struggled to kill games off, drawing 18 of their 42 assignments and scoring only 59 goals in the process.

To make matters worse, 22 of those league goals came from forward Martin Braithwaite, who has since departed the club for Gremio in Brazil.

Espanyol have failed to find a suitable replacement and have been quiet in the transfer window and it could cost them in a potentially congested relegation battle.
