Rangers have installed former club captain and Ibrox icon Barry Ferguson in the dugout for the remainder of the season after dispensing with Philippe Clement.
It has been a turgid time lately for the Light Blues in domestic action but Ferguson is adamant he can adopt an aggressive pressing style that will see Rangers winning with regularity in what is left of this season.
Half-time/Full-time Rangers-Rangers – 13/10
A first Ibrox loss against St Mirren since November 1991 was enough to convince the Rangers hierarchy that Clement's time was up.
That setback followed closely on the heels of an embarrassing Scottish Cup defeat to Queens Park on their own patch and it was too much to bear, despite CEO Patrick Stewart having insisted the Belgian would likely remain for the Europa League knockout campaign.
Rangers moved quickly, with Barry Ferguson installed on Monday as interim manager for the remainder of the season.
The former Gers midfielder and skipper has brought ex-teammates Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor with him. Whilst fully aware he's in the hotseat only temporarily – for now at least – Ferguson had no doubts.
"It was a job I couldn't turn down. To be honest, I thought it would never come," he said.
Pressed on what he has made of Rangers this season, Ferguson went with 'inconsistent'.
He should get a competent start, against a Killie side with just two wins in seven games since early January. Since the start of 2020/21, Rangers have won 10 of their 12 league games against Kilmarnock, more than any other Scottish Premiership side has managed against the Ayrshire outfit.
They met five times in 2024, Rangers winning four and outscoring Killie 15-4, with the most recent clash being a 6-0 demolition at Ibrox in December.
The new management team should get a reaction and, on their day, this Rangers squad are capable of being very good. They can make a fast start and be ahead by half-time en route to victory.
Hamza Igamane to score first – 7/2
Bright spots for Rangers this season have been few and far between but 22-year-old Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane has shown the sort of form at times to qualify as one of them.
Between Christmas and mid-January he scored seven goals in six games and also caused Celtic lots of problems in the 3-0 New Year's derby win at Ibrox.
They have dried up since, he's now seven without a goal, but he has 13 goals already this season, including four in the Europa League, and he's sure to get some words of encouragement from the new Rangers management team that should fill him with confidence coming into this game.
Over 3.5 Goals – 7/4
Rangers have typically brought the entertainment factor on their travels recently. Both teams have scored in their past six Scottish Premiership away trips, with over 3.5 goals obliging in four of the last five, including successive 3-1 wins at Dundee United and Hearts recently.
Goals haven't flowed as easily in Killie games at Rugby Park, though they were 3-1 winners against St Johnstone last time out.
Ferguson has promised an aggressive pressing game from Rangers, which should help them create forward momentum, but will also leave them exposed at the back.
The Light Blues have scored three or more goals in five of their last league outings. This could be a high-scoring evening in Ayrshire.
