A rejuvenated Juventus made an early statement in their challenge for the title with a comprehensive 3-0 win over newly-promoted Como.

Samuel Mbangula, who became the youngest Belgian goalscorer in the history of Serie A, and USA winger Timothy Weah put the hosts in the ascendancy and it was a lead they never looked like relinquishing, with Andrea Cambiaso adding a third in stoppage time.

Motta's bold and courageous style of play is of a stark contrast to the pragmatism of his predecessor Massimiliano Allegri and his impressive track record of developing individuals bodes well for a squad packed with young talent.

The 41-year-old has been backed in the transfer window, with Juve bolstering their central midfield options with the additions of Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram. Atalanta sensation Teun Koopmeiners is also set to join the Old Lady, drawing protracted negotiations to a close.

This certainly feels like a transitional season for Juventus and yet the club will be eager to contend on all fronts this season, especially in the reformed UEFA Champions League.
