Despite only one position separating them, Ipswich Town are 10 points better off than Southampton as they head into Saturday's crunch Premier League clash between two relegation candidates.
Saints have shown some signs of improvement since the arrival of new manager Ivan Juric, but the results are yet to start flowing and it could be another difficult day for the travelling fans.
Both teams to score - 7/10
Southampton may be the lowest scorers in the Premier League, but there has been a marked improvement in their attacking play since Juric took over in December and they should be able to get on the scoresheet at Portman Road on Saturday.
Five of their dismal tally of 16 league goals this season have come in their last five matches, while 31 per cent of their shots and 33 per cent of their shots on target have come in the six games under Juric.
They may have enough about them to trouble a Town defence that have shipped 14 goals in their last four league assignments, but the Saints also hold the unwelcome record of the league’s worst defence - this has not improved since the new manager came aboard.
Saturday’s visitors have shipped 53 goals this season and an average of 2.83 goals per game under Juric. They have kept just two clean sheets all season, while Ipswich have scored 11 of their 21 goals in nine meetings with bottom-half opposition.
The Tractor Boys have had a difficult run of fixtures over the past month, with each of their last eight opponents being sides currently in the top half of the table, but they should fare better going forward on Saturday.
Mateus Fernandes to be booked - 2/1
Mateus Fernandes picked up his seventh Premier League booking of the season in Saints' defeat to Newcastle United last weekend and three of those have come in his last four league appearances.
The 20-year-old Brazilian has committed eight fouls in five Premier League games under Juric and hosts Ipswich have been on the receiving end of 50 fouls across their last five competitive matches.
Omari Hutchinson to have 1+ shot on target - 8/11
Omari Hutchinson has only managed two goals for Ipswich this season, but the 21-year-old has been a real threat at times and is perhaps unfortunate to only have a couple of strikes to his name.
Only Liam Delap has managed more shots on target for the Tractor Boys this season and Hutchinson's on-target effort against Liverpool last weekend made it four successive games in which he has troubled the opposition goalkeeper.
Coming up against a visiting defence that have allowed their opponents a league-high 147 shots on target, expect him to test the visiting goalkeeper.
