Ipswich Town v Manchester City: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Manchester City's defensive vulnerabilities continue to derail their title ambitions and they will next face a pumped-up Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon.

The Tractor Boys led inside a minute in the reverse game at the Etihad Stadium and will hope to rattle the champions again now.

Home wins have been scarce, however, and City will be eager not to come unstuck on the road twice in a week.

Ipswich Town v Manchester City betting tips and predictions

Manchester City to win and both teams to score – 8/5

A hugely underwhelming season for Manchester City continued in midweek as they allowed a two-goal lead to slip away in a stalemate at Brentford.

Pep Guardiola's side have now managed to keep just a single clean sheet in their last 10 Premier League away trips.

Even that came in fortuitous fashion, with Leicester City twice hitting the woodwork in their clash at the King Power Stadium over Christmas.

For the Tractor Boys, one win in 11 league assignments at Portman Road is a damning indictment of their survival hopes at this stage.

Kieran McKenna's side have scored in six of those 11 games however, while they took the lead against City at the Etihad Stadium before losing 4-1 in August.

The visiting side should emerge with all three points in East Anglia but perhaps not quite unscathed.

Erling Haaland to score two or more goals – 11/4

Four games without a goal to start the month of December was nothing short of a famine for the usually prolific Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian put that to right with the clincher in the win at Leicester and began 2025 with a brace in the 4-1 win over West Ham on home soil.

Haaland this week signed a new long-term deal with the club that will potentially keep him at City until his 34th birthday.

When these sides met back in August, Haaland helped himself to a hat-trick. He has happy memories of facing Ipswich and could well be celebrating his new deal with a couple of goals here in a contest where City are likely to carve out plenty of opportunities.

Liam Delap to be booked & over 0.5 shots on target – 13/2

Having joined Man City as a teenager, Liam Delap only managed just two first team appearances and he swapped the Etihad for Portman Road last summer in a bid to get first-team exposure.

It has paid off, with Ipswich seeing their £15m purchase score eight Premier League goals in 19 outings already.

The 21-year-old relishes a battle and his physical approach has earned him eight bookings in all competitions already for his new club.

He will be eager to show his former employers what he can do now. With the City defence not the force of recent seasons, and with Ipswich generally competitive on their own patch despite a poor set of results, it should come as no surprise if Delap gets at least one shot on target.

Booked four times in his last six appearances in the league, that eagerness to show up well could also lead him to the attention of the referee again, making this double an interesting bet builder play.
