Ipswich v Sheffield Wednesday: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Two teams battling at different ends of the Championship table meet at Portman Road on Saturday, as promotion-chasing Ipswich host relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday.

The Tractor Boys sit third in the standings, one point behind second-place Leeds and a further four behind table-toppers Leicester, who once had a 12-point buffer at the top.

As for the Owls, they occupy 23rd position in the Championship, but they are only a point off safety and their recent upturn in form should make this clash in Suffolk an entertaining one.

Ipswich v Sheffield Wednesday betting tips and predictions

Ipswich to win and both teams to score @ 11/5

Ipswich will still be hurting from the gut-wrenching 2-1 defeat at Cardiff last time out, as the visitors conceded twice in stoppage-time, but a return to Portman Road could be exactly what they need to get back on track.

The Tractor Boys have been fantastic at home this season, losing just one of their 18 Championship matches and collecting 43 points in total - only Leeds (46) have a better record.

Kieran McKenna's side have had no issues in attack and their tally of 74 goals scored is the joint-best in the division, while no team have netted more at home than Ipswich (47) have.

It has been a different story in defence with the Suffolk outfit conceding 49 times in the league, and they have kept just four clean sheets from their 22 matches at Portman Road in all competitions.

This should give the Owls hope that they can at least get on the scoresheet, something they have achieved in three of their last four away games in all competitions.

Danny Rohl's side were on a four-game winning streak before losing 2-0 at home to Leeds last time out, but Wednesday did have nine attempts in that contest and will feel they should have found the back of the net.

This promises to be an entertaining affair and it is one that Ipswich can edge on the day. Of the Tractor Boys' 13 home wins in the league this season, both teams have scored in 11 of those and that outcome may happen once again.

Kieffer Moore to score anytime @ 7/4

Ipswich made a shrewd January acquisition by bringing in Bournemouth's Kieffer Moore on loan, with the striker having netted six times in nine appearances.

The 31-year-old scored what he thought was the winner in Cardiff last time out and he will be hoping to lead from the front again, as he aims to fire the Tractor Boys to promotion.

With the Owls conceding 55 times this season, Moore will be relishing the opportunity to take on a defence that has been exposed too many times.

Will Vaulks to be booked @ 11/5

With so much at stake for both of these sides, this could turn into a feisty affair and there looks to be a high chance some tackles will be flying in at Portman Road.

Ipswich should see a lot of the ball and, therefore, the Owls will have a fair amount of defending to do, increasing the probability that some players will fall foul of the referee.

One such individual could be Wednesday midfielder Will Vaulks, who started on the bench against Leeds last time out and is pushing for a place in the starting XI.

The 30-year-old Wales international has been cautioned six times this season - only two of his team-mates have received more bookings - while his foul count of 36 is the most in the squad.
