Simone Inzaghi will ring the changes for Inter Milan but one of Serie A's deepest squads should still be too strong for Udinese in the last-16 of the Coppa Italia.

Udine have not reached the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia since 2015/16 and the odds suggest they won't be doing so in 2024/25 either.

Inzaghi will swap out a number of his first-team stars on Thursday night, but will still send out a side that should be too good for Udinese.

Inter make their bow in this year's competition looking to regain a trophy they last won two seasons ago.

And fresh from Monday night's astonishing 6-0 win at Lazio in Serie A, it's fair to say spirits are high at the San Siro.

Given they don't play again until next Monday - at home to Como - Inzaghi could go for broke and send out most of his stars, but that would be out of character.

It should mean promotions off the bench for the likes of Matteo Darmian, Piotr Zielinski, Marko Arnautovic and one or two others, illustrating what a power-packed squad Inzaghi has at his disposal this season.

And that should make them too hot for Udine to handle, especially with Runjaic's team going through a flat spell.

I Bianconeri began the season well under their new German boss, going unbeaten in their first five league and cup matches, but reality has set in and they are currently on a run of five defeats and just one win in their last seven.

They lost 3-1 at home to Napoli at the weekend and lost midfield heartbeat Sandi Lovric to injury during that game.

As for Inter, they have lost just once since the end of September, a 1-0 reverse at Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month.

They are Serie A's top scorers, but the likes of Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez can expect a rest. However, Arnautovic, Mehdi Taremi and Joaquin Correa aren't bad options for Inzaghi to have in attack.

Those changes will arguably make Inter a little more vulnerable and Udinese, with seven-goal Lorenzo Lucca leading the line, can at least get on the scoresheet - but in a defeat.

Carlos Augusto came off the bench to score in Inter's 6-0 romp at Lazio on Monday and the Brazilian can expect to be rewarded for his effort with a start on Thursday night.

Inter's prized left wing-back Federico Dimarco can expect a night off with Carlos Augusto a more than respectable stand-in for the Italy international mainstay.

The former Corinthians and Monza wide man has only got the one goal this season, but in limited time on the pitch, having made just two starts.

He has started more in the UEFA Champions League, where he has looked comfortable.

Under 10 Corners - 11/10

Coppa Italia ties are something of an unwelcome distraction in hectic schedules and it is unlikely to turn into an epic.

Sixty per cent of Inter's matches in Serie A this season have fallen short of 10 corners, so if this game is played at a less frantic pace as might be the case in a league game, don't expect a flood of corners.

Inzaghi's side's most recent cup outing - the 1-0 loss at Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League - produced just four corners and only one for the Italian side.
