Huddersfield v West Brom: Predictions, Tips and Odds

Two teams battling at different ends of the Championship table meet at the John Smith's Stadium on Sunday, when relegation-threatened Huddersfield take on a West Brom side sitting in the play-off positions.

Town are one of several clubs embroiled in the battle to avoid the drop, with rock-bottom Rotherham the only team cut adrift.

Albion are fighting hard to keep themselves in the play-off places and they head to West Yorkshire on the back of a 2-2 draw at QPR, a result that extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

Huddersfield v West Brom betting predictions and tips

Huddersfield to win @ 7/4

Andre Breitenreiter has made a solid start since being appointed Huddersfield manager last month, beating Watford on his debut before drawing against Leeds in a clash that saw his side play with 10 men for the entire second half.

The Terriers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Cardiff in midweek, not a bad result given the Bluebirds are in good form and mounting a late challenge for the play-offs.

Before Breitenreiter took the reins, Huddersfield were showing decent form at home and had picked up seven points from the last 12 on offer at the John Smith's Stadium prior to the German's arrival.

It will be no easy challenge getting the better of West Brom, who arrive on a four-game unbeaten streak, but the away form of the Baggies is a slight cause for concern.

Carlos Corberan's troops have won just one of their last seven road assignments, that sole victory coming against struggling Plymouth, while three of their last four away outings have ended in draws.

The Baggies will be facing a hostile atmosphere in West Yorkshire and it may prove prudent to side with Huddersfield, who have got the new-manager bounce they were hoping for.

Over 11 corners @ 5/4

One thing this fixture should have is plenty of corners, and backing over 11 looks to be a smart play given the affinity both teams have for this set-piece type.

In Huddersfield's last 10 matches, they have been awarded an average of 5.4 corners and conceded an average of 6.2.

As for West Brom, they have had an average of five corners awarded and 5.6 corners against in their last 10 away games.

Given what is at stake for both the Terriers and the Baggies, it would be no surprise to see the pair racking up the corners and hitting over 11 in total.

Brodie Spencer to be booked @ 5/2

Another interesting market to look at is cards and one player that sticks out at 5/2 to be booked is Huddersfield wing-back Brodie Spencer, who has been no stranger to a caution this season.

The 19-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Scottish side Kilmarnock, where he received seven yellows from 18 appearances, and he has nearly matched that tally already since returning to the Terriers.

In 10 Championship outings, Spencer has been booked six times, with all of those coming across his last eight games, while he was also cautioned in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester City in January.

Whether it is useful exuberance or a lack of experience, or perhaps a combination of both, the Northern Ireland international has been falling the wrong side of the officials too many times and it would be no surprise to see his name taken for the seventh time in the league on Sunday.
