Over a third of the League One season has passed and Wigan Athletic are sat in 15th place, having not been inside the top half at any stage.
However, the Latics are only seven points outside of the play-offs and remain hopeful of making an impact towards the top end of the division.
Fifth-placed Huddersfield Town are in a healthier position having taken 17 points from their last seven matches.
The Terriers were 2-0 winners at Leyton Orient last Tuesday, but six of their nine league victories have come on home turf.
Wigan or draw double chance - 23/10
Wigan have had a habit of raising their game for the more difficult matches and they look overpriced to avoid defeat against Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.
The Latics have played away to three of League One’s top six and performed well on each occasion, losing 2-1 at Birmingham City, drawing 0-0 at Stockport County and winning 1-0 at Barnsley.
Strong defence has been key for Wigan, who have been involved in a lot of tight, low-scoring matches.
The Latics’ 16 league fixtures have generated just 28 goals (15 for and 13 against) and included four goalless draws.
However, they have been looking to develop their offensive play and there have been some positive recent signs with four goals scored across their last two matches.
Shaun Maloney’s side advanced to the third round of the FA Cup with Saturday’s 2-1 extra-time triumph away to Cambridge United and they head to Huddersfield with the aim of posting a fourth successive victory.
Wigan’s resurgence is sure to have caught the attention of the Terriers, who will be preparing themselves for a tough game.
Town are unbeaten in their last seven matches and rounded off the November schedule with wins at home to Charlton Athletic (2-1) and away to Orient (2-0).
However, their absentee list has been steadily increasing, with wing-back Mickel Miller (knee) becoming the latest addition to the treatment room.
Huddersfield manager Michael Duff vented his frustrations after Miller’s injury at Orient by saying: "It feels like we are swimming against the tide constantly."
But the fixture list shows no signs of relenting and the busy period up to and before Christmas is set to provide a stern test of the club’s resources.
Duff’s side have 11 matches to play in the next 40 days and the first of them could be a disappointing experience.
Thelo Aasgaard to score any time - 10/3
Attacking midfielder Thelo Aasgaard has been Wigan’s star performer this season, scoring seven goals in all competitions and he looks like a potential matchwinner against Huddersfield.
Aasgaard has netted in each of his last three appearances, including the decisive strike in a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Barnsley.
He is fourth on the League One shot statistics with 41 and approaches the contest full of confidence.
Four of Aasgaard’s goals have come in away games and there is every chance of the Norwegian providing another magic moment.
Silko Thomas to be carded - 4/1
Pacy winger Silko Thomas is another of Wigan’s exciting attacking players with every chance of a future higher up the EFL ladder.
He is also more than happy to carry out defensive duties and sits 11th on the League One foul count with 27.
Thomas has collected two yellow cards this term and a third could be forthcoming against the Terriers.
