Huddersfield v Leeds: Tips, Predictions and Odds

Huddersfield will look to improve their chances of avoiding relegation and dent Leeds' promotion hopes when the two teams compete in the latest West Yorkshire derby at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday.

The two sides are at opposite ends of the Championship table, but neither side will be backing down in a game where both will be desperate to secure the bragging rights.

Huddersfield v Leeds betting tips and predictions

Leeds to win and both teams to score - 12/5

Daniel Farke's Leeds side will come into Saturday's game on the back of a defeat for just the second time in 2024 as they look to continue their incredible run of form in the Championship.

The Whites enjoyed a 12-match unbeaten run before Wednesday's 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea, and they were unlucky to fall short at Stamford Bridge after such a spirited display.

Farke made changes, and yet Leeds were still competitive in west London, which bodes well for their trip to the John Smith's Stadium.

Leeds have won nine in a row in the second tier, including last week's comeback victory over league leaders Leicester City, which cut the gap between the two clubs to six points.

Huddersfield are only two points above the relegation zone, but they have won three of their last five to improve their chances of avoiding relegation.

New manager Andre Breitenreiter won his first game in charge last weekend, and with Huddersfield at home, we may see both teams find the back of the net.

The Terriers have scored in nine consecutive matches at home, and with this match being a derby, the hosts will be desperate to unsettle their rivals.

Leeds have a superior squad, though, and have already come through some tough challenges this season, so they should get the job done.

Over 3.5 cards in the match - 8/13

It's fair to say there will be no love lost between the two sides on Saturday, and there have been some passionate battles over the years between the two teams.

The two sides have only met once in three years due to Leeds' spell in the Premier League, but the history books suggest this will be another bruising encounter.

Leeds ran out 4-1 winners in the first meeting between the two teams in October, and there were four yellow cards dished out on that occasion, all for Huddersfield.

In the last five meetings between the two clubs, there have been no fewer than five yellow cards shown in each match.

Farke's side are usually well behaved, they have only collected 50 yellow cards this season, the second-fewest in the division.

Huddersfield are fourth in the fair play table, having only collected 60, but those stats can be forgotten about in a derby game.

Terriers fans will be full of belief and trying to unsettle Leeds, and the Whites cannot afford to let the home side get away with any strong challenges.

It would be a shock to see fewer than four yellow cards on Saturday, and the stats back it up in this fixture.

Georginio Rutter to score or assist - 4/6

Playmaker Rutter was given a rest on Wednesday to recover from a recent injury, and he should be firing on all cylinders for the trip across the M62.

After a tough first few months at Elland Road, the Frenchman is now a key cog in their team, and he has scored six goals and also grabbed 12 assists this season.

In the recent win over Leicester, Rutter was marked out of the game and struggled to influence the contest before his class eventually told.

He never gave up and played a part in every goal Leeds scored during their 3-1 win at home.

Rutter's ability to carry the ball and feed his team-mates will cause Huddersfield problems, and he should once again influence the scoreline like he has done so many times this season.
