Ahead of the 2025 Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham, we examine how much winning the competition will be worth to either club.
The winners of the Europa League final at San Mames in Bilbao could earn a minimum of up to £54.4m.
This estimated value is a combination of the prize money on offer for winning the trophy and earning qualification for the league phase of next season's UEFA Champions League.
Man Utd have already received £26.6m for progressing through to the Europa League final, with Spurs netting a slightly lower amount of £26.5m having finished below the Red Devils in the league phase.
£21m is at stake ahead of the one-off final in the Basque Country - £5m for winning the trophy itself and the remainder for qualifying for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.
Of course, competing in the UEFA Champions League would open up further revenue opportunities for either Man Utd or Spurs.
Speaking to BBC Sport, football finance expert Kieran Maguire said:
UEFA Champions League participation is crucial, because it could generate over £100m from tickets, broadcast money and sponsor bonuses.
Man Utd and Spurs could continue to pocket more cash the further they progress in the UEFA Champions League, with lucrative prize money amounts on offer for each round teams navigate through.
The magnitude of the 2025 Europa League final can therefore not be overappreciated, with Man Utd in particular in need of added income streams having suffered major financial losses in recent years.
The Red Devils posted an annual loss of £113m last year, taking their overall losses across the past three years to over £300m.
In an interview with BBC Sport, Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said the additional revenue generated by a potential Europa League win would "put the club in a far stronger position in terms of a reboot."
