The Scottish Premiership title already looks out of reach for Rangers but they did at least manage to strike a blow against Old Firm rivals Celtic by recording a convincing 3-0 win at Ibrox in the last round of fixtures.
Rangers now return to action on Sunday with a tough trip to the capital as they face a Hibernian side that are on a five-game unbeaten run.
Hibs had won four in a row prior to a 1-1 draw at 10-man St Johnstone in their last game and they are the division’s form side, as no team has managed more than their 13 points from the last five games.
Rangers to win and both teams to score - 2/1
Rangers had been in a tough spot prior to their derby delight, with just one win in five games across all competitions, but that success over Celtic could prove to be a turning point in their bid to hold off Dundee United and a faltering Aberdeen in the battle for second.
Philippe Clement’s side now have a five-point lead over both the Terrors and the Dons. Overhauling Celtic, who are 11 points clear at the top, looks too big of an ask, but they will at least be looking to close the gap and they should be able to put a bit more pressure on their city rivals with a win in the early kick off on Sunday, with the Bhoys in action later in the day.
Rangers have an excellent record against Hibs as they have won each of the last eight meetings between the two sides in a run stretching back to a 2-2 draw in August 2022.
The Gers’ road form is a slight concern coming into this game as they have just three away wins in the Premiership all season, but two of those have come in their last four trips and they should come into this game buoyed by their Old Firm victory.
Hibs have won their last two at home but both of those wins have come against teams below them in the table. The Edinburgh outfit were winless in five at Easter Road prior to those back-to-back victories, but they have at least scored in nine consecutive games in front of their own fans and only Celtic have managed a clean sheet as a visiting team at this venue this season.
Rangers have conceded in seven of their last nine away from home and they may need to score more than once to get the better of a Hibs side that are now pushing for a place in the top six.
Ianis Hagi to score any time - 11/5
Ianis Hagi has endured a stop-start season at Ibrox after returning from a loan stint at Alaves but his performance in the win over Celtic suggests he could be in line for a strong second half of the campaign.
Hagi opened the scoring in the win over the league leaders and had five shots in total over the course of that game. The Romanian has managed at least two attempts in each of his last seven Premiership appearances and he can back up his Old Firm heroics with a goal in the capital.
Rocky Bushiri to be booked - 7/4
Hibernian defender Rocky Bushiri has three bookings in 11 Premiership games this season and two of those cards have come in his last three appearances.
The Hibs backline will come under a bit more pressure than it perhaps usually does on Sunday so there is a chance a home defender or two could end up in the referee’s notebook, and as Bushiri has committed five fouls in total across his last three games, he looks a prime contender.
